For those of you who have seen my other posts on Tower of the Sun you will see I have been planning a new game, and I am now ready to start. It will be hosted on the Lone Wolf Role Playing Game Online boards (http://lwrpgol.proboards85.com/index.cgi) The game will be called "Children of the Light" and will be set in the year MS5150, 100 years after the destruction of the Kai. The world has known relative peace for the last few decades, but all that is about to change as a new threat is sent to Magnamund by Naar. The game does not use the d20 rules from Mongoose. It instead uses rules similar to that found in the gamebooks (you can see these rules here: daziarn.proboards54.com/index.cgi?board=lorelight&action=display&thread=223). The game is quick and more role-playing heavy than dice rolling heavy, which I think works better for online games. I am looking for at least 2 players, 3 or more would be ideal.

Your board is now all set up and ready for you to set up. Please use either Slavemaster or Mearin's game as an example of board set up.
For gaming purposes, with the call for players, you may want to set up some basic understandings about posting (such as once per weekday, twice per week etc), depending on game speed, some people may or may not be able to play.

Thanks Al. I'm not too fussed on posting regularity; whatever you (the players) are able to give me is fine. Ideally I'd like a post each day of the week; however, I understand people are often doing other things on weekends and so this is not always possible. As you register your interest to join the game, let me know how frequently you can post. The more frequent the better!

Unfortunately, I will be unable to play. I would recommend though coming up with a posting rule and sticking to it, otherwise the games can easily fall by the wayside as a single encounter takes months to sort out.

I'll be following this game, and might even sign up, but I'd prefer to see if anyone who hasn't already got an ongoing game wants to come in first.

No worries Doomy.
Ok, posting rule will be this: Once per day, Monday-Friday. Weekends if you can.

I'll leave the invitation to join open until the middle of next week.

I'm interested - it's been too long since I did anything like this. I'll take a look at your rules in a bit - I like the sound of them not being the d20 ones! I'll get back to you.

Hmm, I keep stretching myself thin and promise not to do it again, but I am intrigued by the simple rules approach. If you do not get your three by the mid-week, then you can count me in (but otherwise I'll watch from the side-lines)
I'd want to go Vakeros or Sommlending Knight, I think Sommlending Knight is less complex and a better choice for shaking diwn the basic rules. The battlemagics of the Vakeros just seems to add another layer to the play.

I'm also concerned about spreading myself too thinly, but will be the third player if nobody else steps forward - providing the game is a short one.

The battlemagics of the Vakeros just seems to add another layer to the play. Though Alasi's gamebooks provide a good framework for the Vakeros class just as the original gamebooks do for the Kai, so maybe not much messing about required. I am up for having a go at this. But before you consider accepting me as a player I'd have to say that the first week of September I'll be really busy and probably unable to post every day. After that I'm potentially unemployed and therefore very free for a bit, but if I do get some work I have no idea right now how that might affect my ability to post frequently. I'd second Doomy in thinking that a short-ish game is probably best to start with - something to test your system out a bit. That needn't mean, of course, that a short game couldn't be connected to something much bigger to follow on afterwards.

hey crymson,
still interested here, and could usually swing a post daily during the week and most weekends. I browsed everything you posted pretty quick, but seem to be leaning border ranger at the moment.

Simey: The first week of any game is so tied up in organizational stuff (and, if he is wise, Crymson writing some material in advance) that you may not have much to worry about being largely absent that first week. I do not mean to speak for Crymson, but that is my own experience getting a play-by-post game up and running.

Ok, Simey and Eamon are confirmed. Maerin: Yep, got plenty of stuff written up already EDIT: Oh, and if you guys want a short game, the campaign idea I have been sitting on will still work. The first part of the campaign leads to much bigger things, but is pretty much a mini-adventure anyway and can be ended up easily.
