You can be the fourth if you like?
When you guys are ready, I'll set up a thread with your character's name as the title for you to use as your Action Chart.

OK, just so long as I can bail out easily if I struggle to keep up with the posting. I have no particular preference re class, if Crymson would like to assign me one for testing purposes that's fine.

Beowuuf: Thanks for fixing the problem of posting new topics over there. Your Action Chart thread is ready for you. Doomy: If you need to bail out, no biggy. I'll wait and see what classes everyone else takes, then we'll see what is left. In the meantime, if you come up with something you feel like playing, let me know

Simey: The first week of any game is so tied up in organizational stuff (and, if he is wise, Crymson writing some material in advance) that you may not have much to worry about being largely absent that first week. I do not mean to speak for Crymson, but that is my own experience getting a play-by-post game up and running. Cool - I'll intend to be as involved as possible, but long hours plus music rehearsals for a wedding will come first. Sounds ideal! I'm looking forward to this! Now, just need to actually think of a character. Does the beginning of the story have any particular locale that might suggest where characters will most likely have come from?

The way the story starts the characters can literally have come from anywhere in Magnamund, and not necissarily the same place as the other characters. The adventure itself, however, will start in Kadan (surprise surprise).

What sort of adventure will this be? Since it's for testing your system as much as anything else, I'm envisioning a combat-heavy dungeon crawl kinda thing.

Eh... not big on combat-heavy when it is an online game. It will generally be more story-oriented (at least, the campaign is supposed to be). Having said that, there will definately be some combat and a bit of a dungeon crawl towards the end of this particular adventure.
You won't be spending too much time in Kadan, let's put it that way. More wilderness trekking, then the dungeon (more properly ruins).

Sounds like you're aiming for the feel of a multiplayer LW book.

If I can do that then I'll consider the game a success!
Seriously though, I know I need to test these rules. So there will be quite a variety of things happening during the course of the game so that we can do just that.

The adventure itself, however, will start in Kadan (surprise surprise). I'm totally shocked! ;D Another 'surprise, surprise' can be applied to me probably choosing the Adventurer class. EDIT: With regards to languages, are you going to employ the totally-made-up-for-the-LWRPG-as-a-common-tongue-for-ease-of-gameplay Northspeak or stick to national languages? I've always favoured the latter - the idea of a continent-wide common tongue seeming rather absurd - though that can, of course, lead to awkward situations where people struggle to communicate with one another (though these could, of course, be exploited as a fun role-playing opportunities). To reduce the fear of the latter, more realistic, choice, it could be noted that people in the world naturally tend to speak two or three languages (a fact largely lost on English speakers) and that certain language groups exist within Magnamund that would allow people to communicate with a degree of freedom anyway. For example, Sommlending and Durenese are very similar; Cloeasian and Vassagonian will likely be almost the same; the Stornlands may well have many different languages spoken in them, but there will probably be enough similarities between some of them that communication will be fairly straightforward; and so on. Again though, just my thoughts.

Does everyone know how to register alternative characters on the board without requiring another e-mail address?
Basically, PM me your new name and wanted e-mail, create your new account using a nonsense e-mail address, I'll alter the information and a new activation e-mail will be sent to your proper e-mail to activate the new account
Simple!
