The Wandering Book thread

The Wandering Book is a copy of Flight From the Dark belonging to shirrok/Fallen Angel, that has been passed around and signed by TotS members. The idea is that it will then be passed to Joe Dever for him to sign.

NOTE: THE LIST IS NOW CLOSED BY REQUEST FROM FALLEN ANGEL. If you were on the list previously, and the book will be coming to your country, and you wish to try and get back on, then perhaps you can pm FA directly - although with all the delays you can understand why he just wants it finished and back with him by now!

So BC has the book, according the the FB ToTs thread on the 'book, the order after BC is NightHunter, WiseFox and WildHorse (ta to Wuuf for the info).

Of course, the project isn't mine, it's Kai Lord's, and this is only a suggestion.

By the by, the book will probably be worth a good sum of money to the Lone Wolf collector. I mean, it's not only one of the originals, but it's also signed by Dever and practically the entire community of Lone Wolf fans.

Well, maybe an exageration, but still... who knows who else on that book will end up famous!

It might still be worth considering keeping it going were this an open-ended quest, but as Zipp rightly points out, this quest has an endgame long planned for it. It is not, in any way, open-ended.

I cannot recommend this strongly enough. Practicality regarding the endgame of this project needs to rule over the optimistic idealism of the neverending quest. Bring the project to a close as soon as possible. There is nothing wrong with someone, KaiLord or someone else, starting a new Wandering Book around the community. Perhaps even more than one, as each will essentially be a unique collector's item as people come and go from the Lone Wolf community.

My suggestion would be to close the list now (including anyone who has asked in the last week or so), come up with a gameplan for sending it as efficiently as possible (as few overseas trips as possible), send it to those people, and get it on to Joe and back to Kai Lord.

Though it is nicely place in the qoute box above, I would like to restate that we should close the list soon.

Obviously we should give some time for those members whose names are missing, and for members who have recently expressed interest, to rejoin the project. But in my opinion, if they don't notice soon that their names aren't on the list (or if they haven't even followed to this forum within a week or two) then they probably aren't the most reliable/dedicated members to be sending the book to.

I give the cry in the night: "Don't persist! Close the list!"

I will concur with Zipp and others of like mind: the list should be henceforth closed, and the project moved to completion.

-The more it travels, the more likely it is to get lost/damaged.
-The project is indeed much older than anticipated, due to some unforeseen delays. Remember that when it started, there was no rumor of Lone Wolf being reprinted.
-Given the delays that continually plague Mongoose (who were going to release a new book every 4-6 weeks...and over half a year later people are still waiting on book 4), holding it open till all books are republished is not feasible.
-While Joe is in fine health now, anything can happen.
-Not to sound selfish, but I would like to have it on my shelf next to the others. I had planned on recollecting all the books when I got this one back.
-Due to some uncertainties in my future, yeah, it would be good to have it.

All good things must come to an end.
