That Watchmen quote should be "The Superman exists, and he is American". It's ostensibly a reference to the Nietschian Superman rather than the Kryptonian one (since there are no superhero comics in the Watchmen universe).

Man, it's been years since I saw Y Tu Mama Tambien. There was something wrong with the projection and the bottom half of the picture (with the subtitles) ended up on the top of the screen and they had to start it again after the first ten minutes or so. This was in a professionally-run multiplex, mind.
... good film, though.
As for the torture scene between Le Chiffre and Bond, I was impressed how closely they followed the book for that scene, after all the liberties taken elsewhere.
BTW, you mention that Dr. No is faithful to the book, but a great deal of the plot is actually different. For example....
in the book Bond is forced to fight a giant squid before he kills No by burying him in bird shit.

Nope, it's from birds. Without my copy to hand, I'll have to refer you to this article.

Doomy is right. But pound for pound, it is definitely closer than any other Bond book before Casino Royale. Well, maybe Goldfinger... but I actually think Goldfinger the movie is better than the book. The plot to irradiate the gold supply is a bit like poisoning the water-hole (it's timeless). Whereas in the book his plan is to just, er, drive away with all the money.

A View to a Kill follows the original short story fairly closely - for one scene. Everything apart from that is new.

I never read a View to Kill. What's the scene?

Easy to confuse the two! Though who can forget Sean Connery's iconic scene where he talks to M using his bum cheeks

I never read a View to Kill. What's the scene? The part where Bond acts as a sniper to protect a defector crossing the Iron Curtain and sees an enemy sniper who is a beautiful woman. In the original story, as in the film, he does not kill her, but on returning to London finds out her superiors offed her for failing the mission. Edit: Actually, this is in The Living Daylights. For some reason I always get those two mixed up...

I was gonna say... View to Kill was the one with the black woman. May Day. And, er, Christopher Walkin, I believe.
