When you approach the tribal warriors you become aware of a third member of their number.
They are looking across a thick patch of vegetation (H2) yonder which you spot three annihilators standing. They too seem agitated and you would think they are discussing things between them.
The tribal men and their mage are discussing how to deal with the annihilators.
The mage is in favour of luring the annihilators into the thick patch of vegetation which you learn is another patch of carnivorous plants.
The warriors wants to wait until the annihilators moves away and then attack them from behind.
So far both groups seems unaware of your presence.

Wow, you mean I might have some allies? Well, people who don't want to kill me yet? Beowuuf will mutter a power word: stealth for 3 mana first. He will then make himself known after sheathing his weapon and standing up arms spread, palms out. Providing he doesn't die in a hail of spears and magic, he will offer his services as a sneaky warrior to set up an ambush against the annihilators, as he is trying to stop their source beyond. He will also mention that he has seen the patrol of four annihilators from earlier.

Just a word of warning. When you make yourself known the tribals warriors you will automatically become seen by the annihilators across the vegetation, no matter how high your Stealth score is.
They are actively looking in the direction of the natives and a new discussion partner is not something that you can hope to hide by this spell.
It would have been different if it was invisibility or you created some illusion, but not in this case.
Also, when the annihilators see you (as they will do) then they will become agitated and start moving towards the natives skirting the vegetation (with the plants) on the east side.
The two tribal warriors will move towards them ready to engage them. The tribal mage will start casting protective spells.
There is precious little you have time to say and dicuss with them before the annihilators starts to move towards you but at least they are not trying to kill you and your stealth skill seems to have impressed them.

Then is it too late to change to a power word: strength for 3 mana, draw my weapon again and charge to aid the two tribesmen?

Then is it too late to change to a power word: strength for 3 mana, draw my weapon again and charge to aid the two tribesmen? No, it is not too late. I was first going to suggest that you changed Power-Word but I noticed you cast it before approaching them, so I did not do that. The warriors are moving close to the dense vegetation, intent on not presenting a target before they are close enough to start striking at the opponents. The reason behind that should be fairly clear. The enemies either have ranged or magical attacks. Nothing prevents you to group with the warriors and strike as soon as the opportunity arise. Mind you, I won't stop you from charging but the results you will get from charging should be quite clear I hope.

I can fudge it in my mind - the idea was Beowuuf would not cast a spell while with the tribesmen as that was suspicious, but I can see him assuming he would say it under his breath if they did not instantly attack him. So if the annihilators suddenly react instead, he'll swap to strength I'll happily slot in beside the tribal warriors, and use a ranged search in the direction of the annihilators with my two perception points at least (incase there is a hidden member). How long before we are in combat range?

Combat range: Next round. (After the one that you make contact in which I've not written yet. Will get to that one tomorrow.)
The distance between the groups were rather short. The most direct path was blocked by the carnivorous plants.

As mentioned above, the enemy group of Annihilators see you take contact, and starts moving around you skirting the dense vegetation to the east.
Suddenly there is scream and it is followed quickly by another. The screams are followed by some cursing in an alien language.
"Pit trap good," one of the warriors say.
The two warriors press on intent on trying to finish the remaining annhilator who has escaped the pit trap.
Locations: Tribal Mage, G-2 NW Beowuuf and Tribal Warriors, G-2 SE Annihilator, H-3 NW Annihilator, DEAD, H-3 SW (2)
Hmmm.... I guess with the trap working so well in your favour this will be an easy fight.

Easy fights are good! Losing a post you thought you made...not so good...
I'll move around in a flanking position to where I can see the two warriors, pit and annihilator I will cast power word: hold on the annihilator just incase, 1 mana.
However, I want to do a ranged search from beyond where the annihilators came to ensure there are no reinforcements coming, +3 points
That would put me on, what, G-3NE or H-2SW?
If I need to, and the annihilator has not moved, I assume my position will let me take at least one swing at the annihilator at the end of the round if the other warriors have not downed him yet.

You watch as they perforate the corpse with their spears and then you see them continue towards the Pit where the other mages fell. The third mage also advances up to follow the warriors. This round you can move to follow the warriors, should you so desire. Or you may remain where you are.

I'll move to support them if the Annihilator is a mage. Move to the edge of the pit, and if the thing is not dead, use 2 mana to increase the DC on a Hold Person word.
If the hold works, and the annihilator does not get killed by the warriors, I might demand the Annihilator tells us who else is close, and if he tells us we might be merciful!

Actions: Move to H3-NW and look more closely at the pit.
Right. This will take the rest of the round.
I'll allow you a basic Search of your current square this round. You detect another Pit in the North East section of your current square.
The two Annihilators who fell down the Pit are dead. They have been impaled by sharp poles which have been places at the bottom of the tip.
The two warriors come to the same conclusion, and after they have satisfied themselves there are no other enemies near they turn their interest on you. The mage joins you at the edge of the pit.
It would seem they are waiting for you to say or do something.

Beowuuf bows in respect to the warriors and the mage behind them. "I am sorry I could not aid you more, but you are too swift and skillful. I assume that pit across there is also yours." Beowuuf motions to the pit, hoping to impress the tribesmen.
"I am here to stop their vile kind from flooding through this place," he continues, nodding to the dead creatures in the pit. "I believe they possess a magical doorway centred over there." Beowuuf indicates the centre where he has been told the shadowgate will be.
"I would welcome leave to continue on my mission, and any advice that would help me reach their doorway quickly and safely." Beowuuf then bows again. "Infact, I would be greatly honoured to have aid in my mission. I am strong with a sword, and possess some small magic myself, but this land seems daqngerous to those who do not it's secrets." Again, Beowuuf nods to the dead annihilators. "Could I request your company?"
Let's see what that does!

The mage speaks for the three of them.
"We can direct you on the way and lead you past our traps and some wild animals. The safest path leads towards our village where we will part. Some of our enemies are close to our village. Perhaps, you would be willing to help us kill them?"
One of the warriors adds. "We give you safe path in return. You stealthy. Can avoid the enemies."
