Has anyone tried homebrew on their DS? I think SCUMM VM might be awesome, but I'm not sure how to go about setting it up.

I just bought me a DS Lite! With Zelda!! What else do you lot recommend I get for it? I reccomend picking up not a bunch of DS games, but rather a bunch of Gameboy Advance games (the DS plays em) because some of the best rereleases in video game history have been for the advance. I believe every FF game up to 7 has been rereleased in some improved format (and FF3 is actually DS, not advance). Hopefully someday soon they'll get their heads out of their asses and bring Earthbound back to the States.

I have a GBA SP already, and it's a great little gadget. I also have all the FF games except XI on at least one format. For my DS, I want games that make use of its unique hardware.

I believe every FF game up to 7 has been rereleased in some improved format (and FF3 is actually DS, not advance). I own them all (well, almost) on the Advance: - FFI&II: Dawn of Souls (the two first games of the original series in one cartridge) - FFIV- FFVFFVI exists for the Advance, but I don't own it since I have already the original SNES version (which, incidentally, I started playing again yesterday). FFIII (which my sister owns) is the only one that has been re-released on the DS so far. I know that there's also a FF:IV version for DS that has been released in Japan, but there are some rumors that it might come to the US soon. Basically, for the FF games on the Advance, the graphics are better than on the old NES/SNES, and there are additionnal dungeons in each game. For FFIII, along with an extra dungeon (make it more like an extra boss), the graphics are in 3D and much more dynamic, and you can use the stylus instead of buttons if you want. Keeping with the FF series for DS, there's FFXII: Revenant Wings, a sequel to the original FFXII on PS2, although the story is not linked to it. And as Zipp just said it, you can buy GBA games for you DS, like LoZ: The Minish Cap. Not as incredible as LoZ: PH, but still a good one.

Most of my "vintage" FF collection is the PlayStation releases, though Tactics is on PSP. Loving the DS so far. My only annoyance was when I was playing Zelda on the train and had to feign a sneezing fit to get my salvage arm!

Oh, but I have also FF Tactics Advance too. My only annoyance was when I was playing Zelda on the train and had to feign a sneezing fit to get my salvage arm! LOL! I was able to get mine for 300 rupees by screaming the name of my cat. How much did you paid by faking sneezing?

I forgot that I owned FFT Advance. I preferred Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis though. I got my salvage arm for 300 Rupees too, but had the microphone really close to my face so no screaming required.

I did something that I never thought that I would do before: buying a new Nintendo console... No, it's not the Wii: I've bought a brand new Gamecube. The reason? Wal-Mart and its Canadian competitor Zellers were selling Gamecubes with the Paper Mario game included for only 70$CDN. Plus, by buying this bundle, I had 25% off on any other games or accessories for the console, so I bought Mario Kart Double Dash and a second controller. I have also bought a used copy of LoZ: WW at another store. Finally, I started playing with it and, DAMMIT!, it needs Memory Cards! I did not thought of buying one and the stores are now closed. Luckily, my sister is going to video game store tomorrow and she'll buy one from me (along with a new copy of LoZ: TP for Gamecube). All in all, after my sister buys these two last things, it would had cost me only ~200$CDN for a new console, 3 new games, a new controller and a used game! The price for the Wii is way too high (270$CDN) and it does not come with a game (ok, there's Wii Sports, but it's included in every console you buy) nor with a second controller. I think I've made a bargain there. Oh, and if I buy a Wii one day, I could always sell back the Gamecube and keep the games since they will still work in the new console!

Yes, Gamecubes are looking like a good buy at the moment. In the UK you can buy them from Gamestation for about £40. I might pick one up sometime if I can find a VGA box for it.

Got Lego Indiana Jones today. It's good. If you liked the Star Wars games you'll like this too.

Heh. I have the Lego Star Wars complete saga on Xbox 360, but I haven't tried it yet

I have the original trilogy one. I was given a couple of games during the interval between getting RRoD and actually bothering to send my console back. I think the complete saga was one of those, and COD4 was the other IIRC. However I passed them on since I couldn't play them at the time.

So... anyone else tempted by those £20 HD-DVD players? With films available for £7 I know I am.

They're probably a good deal because Blu-Ray has apparently won this round of the platform war. Then again, the Blu-Ray disks look really ugly, so I'd be happy with HD

I don't know when I'll next get something new in gaming... I'm saving up for a PS3, especially for the following titles:
Metal Gear Solid 4 Resident Evil 5 Fallout 3 Final Fantasy XIII series Beyond Good and Evil 2
I'm also eagerly awaiting Starcraft 2 and SPORE. I very badly want to play Left 4 Dead, but it requires either a PC or an Xbox360 and neither of those are on my "to buy" list.
