A screwdriver, perhaps? (I don't actually know what a DS is.)

It's the new nintendo hand held with the touch screen - you might have seen people playing with them, even if you didn't know what they were
From what i understand about some of the features games try to incorporate, I think a lack of embarrassment is something you will need

Recommendation all depend on what you like some ideas
Advance wars DS - older version that the new days of ruin should be quite cheap now, turn based tatical battling Phoenix wright ace attorney - Again older and cheaper a sort of graphic adventure with lawyering involved New Super mario bros - classic nintendo gameplay Worms open warfare 2 - classic worms gameplay Starfox command - decent space shooter.
Most of these you should be able to pick up for £10-£15 off play or marketplace sellers on Amazon, also as DS is not region locked don't be afraid to pick these up from america

I just bought me a DS Lite! With Zelda!! What else do you lot recommend I get for it? The only games I've played with the DS (my sister's DS...) were Zelda (heck of a game! You have to litterally blow, scream, and even close the screens to make it further in the game. Very original! Need help, I'm here!), FFXII: RW (good game if you like the RPG genre, but extremely long if you complete all the missions) and FFIII (traditionnal FF stuff, just with better graphics that the original NES game). Oh, I've also played MarioKart (which is good fun, but otherwise, pretty similar to what you can play on the big consoles with a front view on one screen and a rear view or the track's map on the other), but the best is when you play online via the Wi-Fi with other people. EDIT: Oh, I forgot one game: The Lone Wolf DS game!

I never understood the appeal of Pokémon: it's just a card game for seven-year-olds, which became a massive fad, entered the electronic world and suddenly took over the minds of thousands of otherwise-sane gamers worldwide. I blame the illithids...

Hm... missed this discussion on DS. Things I would recommend:
Ace Attorney Series (Pheonix Wright and Apollo Justice) - Funny and engaging adventure game. Highly recommended for the story and the characters. Etrian Odyssey - For the old school Dungeon Crawling of yore. Complete with draw your own map and grindfest. Contra 4 - For the truly manly and old school fun. Shoot'em up. Professor Layton and the Curious Village - An adventure game filled with all sorts of puzzles. Elite Beat Agents - A wacky music game Hotel Dusk - Another adventure game with a unique art style.
