Well, I stayed up till after midnight to play it. Only done the tutorial so far, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Lots of shout outs to the original Deus Ex (shout forwards?), from mentions of Page Industries in newspaper, to the very first code you enter in the game (although I'm sure I gain some nerd points for picking up on this one!).
Tonight is my first mission...

Deus Ex is brilliant.
It's fresh and new, yet has enough nods back to the original to remind you that it is a Deus Ex game. The Augments are interesting and fun (love the Icarus landing system - very cool) and I love the upgradability of the weapons.
In many ways it's better than the original. The voice acting is better and I think the gameplay is more satisfying, but the story, while very good so far isn't grabbing me in like the original one did. So for me, the original is still (just) the best. But if you don't play this one, you're missing out.

While waiting for ME3, I've decided to buy the Mass Effect novels. I got the second and third one. I'm currently reading Mass Effect Ascension, the novel set 2 months after ME1. Surprisingly, there are some references the next game. It's cool to get a deeper look at some events that have happened between the two games.
Now I'm trying to find a book store selling Mass Effect Revelation, the first novel, to get details about how Saren became what he is in the first game.

I've been playing Perfect Dark Zero. I didn't expect much from it, but it's quite good. Not great, but reasonably fun. It occupies a slightly uncomfortable position between the old style of the original Perfect Dark and the slick, smooth style of more recent games. It also has a very good multiplayer mode, complete with ferociously skilled bots.

Wasn't this supposed to come out a couple of years ago?

It seems they took their time, but the trailer makes me think that they were right. I hope they kept the graphic novel concept from the previous games.

I've been playing Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, and it's a nice change. It took me a while to work out what the gameplay style reminds me of, and now I've got it: Soul Reaver. The tone, story, setting etc are completely different, but in general gameplay it has that sort of feel to it.

I'm currently playing Chrono Trigger while waiting for AC: Revelations to come out next month. Sometimes, it's good to go back to simple, classic games.

Get the dog in Arcanum. Or else he will be killed by the gnome kicking him.

I spent hours playing Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. Kept Virgil with me, played as a half-ogre named Grom, unfortunately, Virgil got killed in "Wolf Alley." I'm currently in the bridge, Lukan and Co. blocking the way, no Sogg, I don't have 9 Charisma, and my throwing skill is out of whack. What do I do?
P.S. I like it better than Planescape: Torment. Persona 3 and 4 are still the best, they're up with Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment now.

This early in the game Sogg and Virgil are your only possible followers as i recall it. Are you a tech user, magic user or a straight melee character ? Seem to recall this is one of the more difficult fights. If you've gimped your mental stats too much then melee fight will be your only option which at this point probably will mean a number of reloads, especially without the help of any followers. You can always try to flee at opportune time to not fight all of his gang at once.

Magic and melee. No persuasion, unfortunately. You can give in to his demands. The village will go to the pits in the ending cut scene but it won't have a huge effect on your game otherwise. With low beauty and charisma people are not prone to like you regardless. Some of the magic schools can be really helpful. Which ones do you have? There might be some additional options if your intelligence is high enough, to trick him to leave you. How high is it?
