Well, getting a point for the effort of making something should be an incentive to participate in all events. If I don't even get a point for submitting something in the Animal Kinship event, I won't even try to submit something because I know that I won't be able to beat the other guys.

It's still the KDD and you lot should be hosting it, so I will happily go by the old scoring system if you can tell me what it was (I can't remember - was it 8 for first, 4 for second, 2 for third and 1 for participating or something? That rings a bell...)

Yeah, I've should have suggested this earlier instead... Sorry... Tracking: 1 point per good answer (max. 10) Healing: 1 point per good modification (how many errors are in the text?) Hunting: 1 point per good guess (max. 5), 1 point for each difference spotted between the original picture and the modified one (max. 5) Sixth Sense: 1 point for each good difference spotted between the two pictures (how many differences are they between the two pics?) For the Animal Kinship, Mindshield, Weaponskill, Mindblast, Camouflage and Mind Over Matter events: 1st place: 8 pts 2nd place: 6 pts 3rd place: 4 pts Every other contestants: 2 pts What do you guys say?

sound good to me, may I sugess that the heqaling and sixth sense be rounded 1 point per 10% of the answers correct to make sure these are out of ten as well.

I originally was going to have each contest score 10 internally, as you've spotted tracking and hunting map perfectly to that. I then semi-abandoned that with healing and sixth sense, although they could score fractions of a point per answer to make it up to 10 - I'm still going to leave the exact amount of answers nebulous for now!
I am happy enough to implement the above scoring, unless anyone has any objection

Come on, we have entries, we have the scoring method, there's only one thing we don't have: MORE ENTRIES! There is a whole weekend to enter the creative , pretty much until Sunday night no matter where in the world you are And even if the creative bug doesn't strike, there are still knowledge and observation based contests wide open for the taking - prove your love of the LW books and geeky nature and get the bragging rights 100% correct answers brings! And even if that all sounds too much like hard work, the weaponskill only requires three sets of random numbers...umm, I mean three sets of weaponskillful numbers...yes. Come one, come all, there's no excuse not to put your toe in the water or dive right in to the fourth Kai Discipline Decathalon!

A quick change to the Healing/Sixth Sense scoring. Looking at it again logically, these will be some debate about whether certain items or phrases are combined or not. Rather than have that, I think negative marking will be a better way to go. Therefore, it is assumed you will get 10 points, but you drop 1 point for each item you miss. Hunting and Tracking will still be marked positively out of 10.
I don't think that is too harsh given the lack of complexity of either contest. Agreed?

I am very proud of myself. Despite the temptation I did not vote for myself on any of the events. ;D

Ok, I know you lot can't see the voting results yet (heh, I thought the mystery was a good thing) but it's all hotting up let me tell you!
7-8 votes so far, have you voted yet? Only one and a half days to make a difference!
And there are still plenty of points left in the other five discipline,s heck pick four random numbers in weaponskill and you have a shot at at least a vaguely honourable mention!
Come one come all in the final moments of the KDD4!

And so the KKD4 comes to a close, with many good creative entries, many good knowledgeable entries, and the random luck event producing some very good random luck! So, it just remains for me to thanks everyone who took part, desticky the topic, await next year with glee when I can take part more...oh yes, and of course announce the shiny happy scores! Black Cat - 74.5 points - this year's WINNER! Swiftstrike - 64 points - well earned second place! Simey - 46.5 points - winning the hotly contested 3rd place! The remaining scores looked as follows: Sarra - 44 points (so close my fellow Vakeros!) Aguila Saber - 39 points Beowuuf - 12 points eviltb - 10 points Doomy - 9 points Agrarvyn - 6 points Maerin - 4 points No team award, as the only team could be classed as Sarra and myself, and we couldn't managed to pool to beating Swiftstrike, let alone Black Cat! The Kai have the KDD4, what were the odds Thanks again all, hope you enjoyed it!

And yet, it happens when there's no medal to be earned... Oh well... Thanks Beo for running the event this year. And congrats to everybody else who took part in it. See you next year!
