Welcome to the launch of the KDD4! Fehmarn may have passed, but still in Sommerlund the winter's cold has barely thawed, young Kai play tricks upon one another on the special day of All Fool's Day, and Kai himself has only started showing While the Kai are temporarily knocked from their home by the Dwarfs' Bor Bew and Boom Powder party getting a little out of hand, the practice of those noble arts of the Kai Disciplines should not be left to lapse. Indeed, there should be more focus on improving them, lest evil come unawares! And so, to the challenges! The first five more creative challenges will be released today, and will run until a week on Saturday. The second five challenges (the more riddle based or easier challenges) will be opened at the weekend, and will run until the following weekend. Any creative contest that requires voting by the forum will be open for voting a week on Saturday, and voting will close for voting on the Tuesday (making the KDD4 last for two weeks as normal). Please try not to vote for your own entries! Feel free to enter only one or all of the contests. Points will be awarded for first, second or third place, and an overall winner determined from the most points. Points will also be totalled up per class for the highest two scorers of each class to discover the decathalon team winners who will bring glory to their class. All ready? That's why I put the creative ones up first! Give people more time to work on them. Yes, that was the only reason
*still rushing to do the ones that require me to do work first*

And now we have the other five events up. Now it's a decathalon! The plan is to leave the first five up until next weekend. I will close them either late on Sunday 13th BST, or more likely first thing Monday 14th BST. I will then open up voting threads for all the submitted entries. The voting will last for three days (until late Wednesday 16th BST, or first thing Thursday 17th BST) Meanwhile, the new five events will stay open until late Wednesday 16th BST, or will be closed first thing Thrusday 17th BST. By Thursday evening, I should have done all the calculations and can issue the results and close all the threads Good luck people!

Swiftstrike runs around celebrating having completed all decathlon events. "Did I do it did I finish first. I must have I win." he looks at the Kai inniate administrating the event. "Sir," the iniate begun to mumble "It is not the speed that counts in this decathlon but the skill." Swiftstrike stops his celebrating and walks slowly away. "I definitely should read the rules before starting." He mutters to himself as he does so.

Say, Beo, you've never mentionned how many points were going to be awarded for each events. And in the events in which a winner is decided with a poll, do we get points even if we don't finish in the first 3 places?

Too true! 3 points for first place, 2 points for second place, 1 point for third place In the event of a tie for you or your 'team' I'll let things like getting votes in voting threads or the next highest place in the other threads count I've tried to make each event have a clear set of winners, but I think some like the hunting or tracking thread are too hard to split up like that since they are straightforward questions, so will possibly generate multiple awards. Of course, they are tougher so it's fair that they generate more points!

So no points if, say, my entry for the Animal Kinship event ends up in 4th place?

Personally I think it would penalise people who don't have much free time and can only enter one or two events if we awarded participation points. Hopefully the sense of satisfaction in entering and getting a vote would be enough! Plus do you really want Swiftstrike to win automatically! He's entered them them all!
