You follow the other captive to the area in question while the soldier continues on the trap.
The panel is set into the door and was well camouflaged from being found by casual inspection.
The panel has two levers which can be pulled. You manage to get the following meaning from the words below them:
"Shrine"
"Baths"
Inspecting the tracks here they do seem to end close by, by what may very well be an opening into the wall. If it is the secret door it is very well fit into the wall, and there seems to be no apparent way to enter through it, save by smashing it down.
There are no special sounds or scents coming from the wall, but this entire section of the corridor have a damp tang over it which is quite strong and would be sure to block out any scents coming from beyond the wall. There is some percipitation in the tunnel itself, along the ceiling and walls.
The two levers seems to indicate two openings but neither of you can find anything else that looks like it may be an opening.

”Never found much treasure in a bath,” Seren mutters to himself. He reaches for the 'shrine' lever, images in his head of piled offerings of gold and jewellery. At the last moment he stops, recalling the talk of sacrifices – what if the shine is covered with rather more grisly contributions to the cultists' deity? Seren considers that the help of the mercenary soldiers is currently his only obvious way out of this place, so doing anything to make their job more difficult may be unwise. He looks at his fellow kidnapee. “Let's see what he thinks,” he says giving a sideways nod back down the passage towards where the soldier is working.
Seren will inform the soldier of what they have found. He is keen to pull the 'shrine' lever and take a look, but will not push too hard for this if the mercenary is not keen.

The mercenary is willing to try the secret chamber, but only after the trap is completed. He asks you to return and search the tunnel further away.
"I want the tunnel searched for at least 100 paces from here, so we are sure what to expect around that area."
(The secret tunnel is maybe 40 paces from your current location.)

"Fair enough," says Seren. "No point risking getting surprised from two places while we're still setting up." He gestures to the other prisoner that they should return down the tunnel. "Let's check it's all clear," he says, setting off.

You have passed maybe 35 paces from the panel when your companion alerts you to another odd feature in the wall.
Closer inspection reveal it to be a secret door. A closer look on the wall and floor around it makes it likely that it has been used not too long ago, within the last day or two at least.
There appear to be no traps around it and after some work you find the opening mechanism.
Open it up or continue exploration?

Seren's fingers itch to operate the mechanism and investigate what lies beyond the secret door, yet he remains mindful of the mercenary's authority over him while the soldier and his fellows are still his only fairly certain way out of this place.
“Come one,” he says to his companion. “Let's have a quick look to about a hundred paces, make sure there's nothing else worth noting. But keep an eye on this section and make sure we know where to come back to.”
Seren will search the 100 paces requested, but only quickly now, not so carefully. He'll then head back to tell the soldier about this door, its recent use and that he thinks they need to check it.

Seren is a little too eager for the search and fails to notice the trip wire which has been set up further away.
Luckily your companion is more observant and takes a hold of your arm and pulling you towards him at the last moment.
"Trip wire," he explains while you work on trying to get your shoulder and arm in working order again.
Closer investigation reveals that this wire is meant to both raise the alarm and give some serious damage to the unwary who triggers it.
Exactly what will be unleashed you cannot determine but it is hidden just below the floor adn triggering the trip wire will open it up. The wire itself is made of a metal and is barbed and very sharp and could also cause some damage. There is no easy way to take the wire with you without triggering the alarm.

Can we get past the wire carefully and leave something on the floor next to it to show where it is?

Noted and so done.
You find nothing further during your search. You return back to the mercenary where the trap now has been finalized.
You discuss the finds and your two comrades doesn't seem to have a firm opinion on which area to visit first. Letting you make that choice.
So what is the first point of interest you want to inspect closer ?

Hey, sorry I'm being slow on this. Have lots of stuff happening last couple of weeks and next few, but will keep going, albeit slowly.
"That secret door's been used recently," says Seren. "We should probably check there first in case it's a route they might use to surprise us or escape." In truth he's more eager to investigate the shrine, but is trying to remain pragmatic with regards to the objective of the soldiers.

Your companions nod. They don't seem to have any opinion either way. Presently you find yourself outside the secret door again.
All still appears calm. Quite a few minutes have now passed since you parted with the main mercenary group.
Any last preparations or instructions, otherwise you will open the secret door next time.

Seren puts a hand up to quieten his companions and listens carefully by the door. Habitually he then runs his fingers around where he perceives the edges to be in case of feeling any sort of air flow, however unlikely that may be far underground.
His quick checks over, Seren glances at the other two. "Okay?" he says with raised eyebrows, then he reaches for the mechanism to open the door.
Am assuming that his checks don't reveal any more, as you've suggested it's all quiet, so happy to open the door.

You open the secret door and glimpse inside into what appears to be a study with shelves, drawers, tables, chairs and a bed.
However, your attention is diverted to a growl by your side.
A large hulking war dog approaches you from the side, it is slavering and looking very hungry.
There is still time for you to leave this area before the dog attacks.
You have seen no other enemies or other exits during your short glimpse of the room.

Seren jumps back and closes the door to escape the war dog. "Someone's not been feeding their pet properly," he says to his companions in relief.
That's assuming he can close the door again.
I'm going on holiday tomorrow for a couple of weeks, so won't be able to continue 'til the start of June.

Okay. You get away from the jaws this time, at least.
Your comrades ask you what happened and what you saw in the room. Was there anything of the interest, worth setting the pet up?
