I watched the first half of the first match (RSA - Mexico), and I found the uniterrupted sound of trumpets very disturbing. On the TV, it sounds like a loud and continuous bees' buzzing. Of course, this is kind of subjective opinion and maybe I'll get used to it, but now it's really very unusual for me and... as I said, disturbing. I even wasn't able to hear the referee's whistles. I'm looking forward to watching Thierry Henry & comp. tonight.

Go Slovenia....Well the beer was cold if sadly it was coors light. I'm sure you have heard that old joke about it being like sex in a canoe? (%$#*ing close to water) and the right team won as far as my neighbor is concerned. I had a good time really although the soccer has been less then thrilling so far, kind of a snore fest some matches.
Oh and hey you pessimistic english soccer fans England didn't lose...ok I know they say a tie is like kissing your sister (does that mean that a loss is like practising on a pillow?) But they would have won if it wasn't for their keeper's blunder. Sadly the one area I overlooked when picking them as my team to root for.
Still plenty of soccer to be played though and hopefully more beer although I might just bring my own next time....

That buzzing sound is driving me bonkers it really does sound like a bee's nest it takes at least a half hour of watching for me to start tuning it out...

So my country (canada) has just spent 1 billion dollars of my money (well not all of it was mine) on security for a three day summit (G20) protecting people no one gives a shit about, this in one the worlds safest countries. While in sout africa not exactly the safest place to live they spent 100 million for a 5 week tournament protecting people that their fellow country men adore.
Damn overreact much politicians!!!!
anxiously awaiting a refund

Given a fan managed to walk right into the dressing room of England yesterday and have a go at David Beckham, then I wouldn't say the level of security is the same!

I've already won £15 for Holland getting to the final. I think another £25 comes my way if they win.
Go Holland!

And Spain got the star on their sweaters... I wanted Holland to win, but I'm still happy that it wasn't Italy or Brazil that won the tournament this year. Let's see in 4 years how it will turn out in South America.
