November is there! Once again, Darren "Grey Wolf" Pearce has written a nice little piece about a little town in Sommerlund in this month's issue of Signs & Portents. This month, discover the Village of Eshnar. Read it. Now!

Wow Eshnars......small! Kinda puts a lot of things in perspective seeing it like that...

I always thought of Eshnar as small. To be honest, I always envisaged it as little more than a couple of rows of buildings flanking the road to Cloeasia, though the fact that it's notable enough to be marked on the maps of Sommerlund makes that notion a little silly. But that picture in the article makes it look a sensible size. Of course, the West Watch has rather altered the Eshnar of fifty years on, but - hey - things change; if Vassagonia became less aggressive for a while and easier trade opened up with its northern neighbours, I imagine places like Temel and Eshnar would expand considerably. Quite where all the zombies come into it though, I'm not so sure.... Anyway, I look forward to reading the article - looks cool!

I think Zipp put a rider saying Eshnar had expended since LW's day to become a minor city. So yeah, it used to be tiny. In the WW, the centre of Eshnar would have been Eshnar of old - hence the Pick and Shovel being the base of operations was the original pick and shovel from the gamebook
Anyway, yes, must clear some time to read the article!

I haven't read the West Watch, so basically all this is culled from either gamebooks or extrapolation on the design of medieval villages and settlements. You're looking at gamebook era Eshnar.

Oh, looking at the West Watch wouldn't help at all! I'm the only one still writing Eshnar stuff, I think, and even I haven't got a clue what's gone on! ;D

That reminds me, I need to take a second look at that and get back to writing myself!

That reminds me, I need to take a second look at that and get back to writing myself! It will come as a monumental shock to you that my definitely-only-one-more-post has spread to two, making three instead of one altogether. But just one to go. No more than that. Definitely. Ish.
