Sweet, thanks for the linkage. I'm guessing this isn't the only interview given by Joe at that event as there were some other items in Bittermind's post over on the PA boards. Any other footage out there? I'd quite like to hear JD answering the question of mine that made it!

Video game critic arrives!
Red Entertainment, for those of you who don't know, is a successful video game maker but not a very highly acclaimed one. Granted, they aren't considered BAD, but they've yet to get a truly great score on anything and many of their games are aimed distinctly at Japanese audiences. They also have a tendency to go for style over substance.
The best known title of theirs is most likely the Gungrave series (which made an alright game but a pretty awesome anime).

Weren't Red Entertainment also the makers of Sakura Taisen? Or did they buy the rights to that after it was made by someone else?
(Sakura Taisen was a dating game/giant robot fighting game that was hugely successful, spawning anime, manga, movie, more games, a huge media franchise. I don't think it was so big outside Japan, though.)

A game in which you date giant robots? Awesome.

I think he means you point at them and laugh and call them "so 20th century".

Actually, you play an antique dealer and have to determine if it's a genuine victorian "Gentlemen's Duelling Apparatus" or a modern steampunk imitation.

The best known title of theirs is most likely the Gungrave series (which made an alright game but a pretty awesome anime). Oh! And Convergence Entertainment got the rights to make both Gungrave and LW movies at the same time. Interesting...
