I just received my copies of Dragons of Lencia and Glory and Greed this morning. I've not had a chance to read them yet (I'm a fast reader, but not that fast!) but they do look rather good. They have a nice solid feel to them. Dragons has a map at the front, Glory does not. I'm looking forward to these.

Maybe they didn't put a map in G&G to avoid spoiling the one will might find in books 29, 30, 31 or 32?

So there's a map in Dragons of Lencia?!? Awesome! ;D Could someone please tell me which area of Magnamund the map features, and if it is in the same style as the rest of the mongoose versions released so far? I'm a huge fan of the maps, and have been working (helping) on an atlas for a while now- so any info would be greatly appreciated

Hello everybody,
I am a french fan of Lone Wolf and I was drived to your site by BlackCat. I apologize for my not fluent english.
I wanted to write my first post in this topic to congratulate Richard Ford for his impressive work on Dragon of Lencia. I received the book 5 days ago, and despite my bad english I devoured it and finished it yesterday. This issue is a must for all Lone Wolf fans.
Richard proves to be a perfect master of the Lone Wolf Universe. Setting a new adventure in MS 5100, he reveales us what happened in Western Tentarias after MS 5083: I had never expected such a change, poor Lencien peoples! The great force of his work is to answer to nearly all the questions that can be asked relative to this area of Magnamund. What happened to Drakkarim once they've been chased away from Nyras. What changes occured in Kasland, Telchos and Illion. What happened in Amory (I know it is not in Western Tentarias) afer Lone Wolf destroyed the spirit of Roark. How did Kai New Order change Fehrman Fest after the bloody event of MS 5050. The work of Richard Ford also enlight us on the politicals conflicts of Illion, and on the skills of the legendary Knights of the Sword; on what happens in the head of an Agarashi; on the different corpses of the Drakkar Army (the Kuz, the Dargshadza, the Ruzzanim, the Nenshadim);
But Richard's work is far more than only an answer to fan's questions. It introduces very exhiting new heroes for Magnamund, as General Kydar, Kaï Initiates Stone Hawk and Bright Owl, Kaï Master Red Bear, Lencian Peasant Dymeric Storn Mercenaries Haleka and Gorth... And incredibly vicious Villains as Warmarshall Ranghor of Darkhe (the greatest military genius ever seen in Magnamund?) and many other ones that I can not spoil it to keep the surprise to the readers. The story brings new surprises each chapters, and we are very far to find the end of the book when we start it. This a very dark story, with a lot of sadness and emotion... This book remained me the Battle of Helm, but written by R.R. Martin!
To conclude, CONGRATULATIONS TO RICHARD FORD. Can't wait for the next issue!

Nice to see that you've come here. Your review will surely warm the heart of Richard since he visits this site once in a while. And I'm pretty sure Joe also comes here too... (I know you are reading this, Mr. Dever! ;D)
Anyways, be welcome, Zorkaan!

I came here thanks to you . Thank you again! And if Richard comes here (that's wonderful), I have a question on Magnamund he doesn't answer in his fantastic novel. To do simple: What's about Zaldir? I have never well understood what is the situation of Zaldir. It is the first nation to fall in front of drakkar invasion in MS 2591. Was this nation a Vaderian one? Was this nation a part of Northern Lencia as Nyras ? It is very unclear because when King Sarnac the Third launches its Crusade against Nyras, he also attacks Zaldir (cf THe Crusade of Dharke). Zaldir is even quickly invaded. Did Sarnac invaded Zaldir because it was a former part of Northern Lencia, or because it was a convenient tactical option (According to the Mongoose Role Playing Game, Sphyder is the most important western military port of the dark nations)? And when Rhangor and Ganghrim "liberated" Nyras, did they also liberate Zaldir? I suppose so. In this case, does Zaldir in MS 5100 take part of Ranghor's Nyras or Ganghrim's Nyvoz?

I REALLY want to answer this question by revealing a section of dialogue from book 2. However, here's a couple of sentences instead: 'Does he remember how we roared when Shpyder burned to the ground? How we decorated the Deathwalk with a fresh head for every league!' Hope that's enough of a teaser

To do simple: What's about Zaldir? There are information on this in the Newsletters. THE DARKLORDSHIP OF ZALDIR Zaldir was the first place to fall to the Drakkarim in MS 2591. The city of Shpydar (formerly Vinaldo) was besieged and its inhabitants massacred by the barbaric Drakkarim. In MS 3140 the Drakkarim were themselves overrun by an invasion from the Tadatizaga. The Darklords tricked the Zaldirians into allowing their Giak armies into their land in order to repel the invaders; when the war was won, it was the Darklords who took control of Zaldir and promptly crushed all who dared to oppose their rule. There is more information in Mongoose Lone Wolf The oleplaying Game. Basically, yes it was Lencian. The best way to explain what happened when the Darakkarim invaded is probably "extermination", or "massacre".

Hello Richard, so that's true you're here! Thanks to answer so quickly. So you're going to explain what will happen in Zaldir after Lencia invaded it! Thank you!
Aguila Saber: Thank you. I have already read the Newsletters and the RPG corebook, but it does not convince me. The text you copyied above don't tell us clearly if first people of Zaldir were Lenciens or not... They hold a Lorestone, the Vinaldo's one, but it is written nowhere whether they were Lencians, Vaderans or something else. We can only infer it from their geographical location, near from Northern Lencia. Drakkarim people destroyed or enslave whoever they found during the Darkdawn War...

We can only infer it from their geographical location, near from Northern Lencia. Drakkarim people destroyed or enslave whoever they found during the Darkdawn War... The campaigns are against their lands. The Darke Crusade mentions Lencians taking both Zaldir and Nyras in their campaign. It is likely however that the two were two different lands already when the Drakkarim arrived, so if they are Vaderians some sort of split had occurred there just as eastern lands were parted from Lencia. As I see it the choice is between a nation which was there before the creation of the Moonstone or the Lencians, simply because the Vaderians were the first people to arrive in the migration period.

You sum up perfectly the problem! According to Magnamund Compagnon, in the Lencia Section, Nyras was lost to Drakkarim during Darkdawn War (MS 2606-10). No words about Zaldir. Drakkarim arrived in MS 2591 and invaded immediatly Zaldir. It sounds that Zaldir thus was not a part of Lencia. And as you have clearly said, we have to know now whether Zaldir was a Vaderian nation that splited from Lencia (as Illion did), or whether it was a more ancient country whose the people are unknown. I hope that the Lencian Trilogy will bring the answer (even if it is not so important )

I also hope that the next issue of the trilogy will bring new elements about Drakkarim's origins. They arrived in MS 2591, but from where? The RPG told us: "from Nordenheim", may be an island in the Kayunis. Is that true? In the first gamebooks Drakkarim are told to be humans. In the french versions of the late gamebooks, they're told to be humanoids (is it the same in the original versions?). And in the Legends of Lone Wolf, they are aliens from another world. Even at the cover of the RPG addon Darkland (written by August Hahn), they are told to be "terrible warriors from another world". So, I hope that the books of Richard Ford will answer to the questions: Are Drakkarim true humans? I personnally hope so ;D , because Ranghor demonstrates in "The Dragons of Lencia" that Drakkarim, when they are free from Darklords' tyranny, are able of intelligence and efficiency, as true humans.

I have always assumed that Drakkarim were a different human race, just like Neanderthal is different from Cro-Magnon. But that is a completely different matter...

Concerning Neanderthal, more and more scientists do suppose that they were not a different race, but a different species from Cro-Magnon (members of different species cannot bread). I'd like you're right about Drakkarim as a race of humans.
