For all their flaws (and there have been many ) I've been enjoying the reissue of the LW books. One of my favorite features has been the mini adventures at the back of each book (apart from the first, which had more than enough new material in any case). That got me thinking. Would there be any interest in a book of mini adventures? Not a compilation of the ones already released, but brand new ones set in the Lone Wolf world, perhaps at different times. Telling stories and featuring heroes completely untouched upon by the main narrative, or perhaps expanding on what is already known. Given the length of the stories already published you could get three to five such adventures per book. Obviously, if there were any interest, it would be wise to wait until Mongoose got there current publishing routine sorted out before making the suggestion. But I can't help but think that there are a number of potential authors right here. Any thoughts?

I know I had an idea for a 50 -100 section LW mini gamebook set between books 3 and 4

Yes! Yes indeed! In fact, I was hinking about writing one myself for fun as a break from writing my other book

Maerin grins. Any time that inclination arises in me, an RPG adventure or campaign (depending on the prospective length of said story idea) usually follows quick enough upon its heels...

This sounds like a splendid idea. I can think of dozens of mini-adventures covering the first 5 books alone. Perhaps this is something we at TOTS can do for ourselves? Make some adventures, say 100 sections in length, and put them on the website for downloading. Heck, we may even persuade Mongoose to print them for us and buy them back at cost or something.
I'm definately up for this.

Hey guys. I found an online company that allows you to, literally, make your own novels. If we wanted to do the mini-adventure idea, we could write them and get them bound too. They do text and pictures. What do you think? Their website is here: www.blurb.com/create/book/textbook

Make some adventures, say 100 sections in length, and put them on the website for downloading. It is a top idea, though I'd guess that even 50-100 sections would require a lot of hard work. Pretty much whenever I venture near the LW books it makes me want to write an adventure gamebook myself, but my ideas inevitably get too convoluted and unworkably ambitious. The notion of aiming to write only a 'mini-adventure' is much more sensible and maybe achievable by many people. It would even be possible for people to collaborate, I'd have thought. Is it worth using this thread to gather a few ideas together? Of course, if you're already interested in tackling a particular story you could say so.

I know it says affordable, but the prices start where at a softcover of a 40 page book is as much as you'd pay for a softcover of a 300-500 page book. I'm not saying I don't understand the price hike, just thta there may well be a massive price hike. It might be easier to see if Mongoose would fire up their printing press (if they still have it) for a reasonable sum

Lulu would be a better option than that linked above.

Indeed. Another forum I frequent has been self-publishing annual anthologies of members' short stories and poetry for the last few years, and they use Lulu. They seem to like it.

I used it to get some print copies of an RPG I wrote, and am about to use it again to do print copies of a gamebook I wrote.

I'm still occasionally updating the chapter 17, but have not managed to progress passed chapter 4 of the single html pages. Must get back to that, although other things kinda need done first The WW without the backstories we lost is still a little hit and miss at people jumping in i think...

The WW without the backstories we lost is still a little hit and miss at people jumping in i think... Well, I can't be the only one who has their backstory saved. And perhaps those that don't can remember the important details. Anyway, I don't know if the WW as a whole would be terribly comprehensible for someone approaching it from scratch, so a printing of it would probably just be for those that have contributed at one time or another. It's a nice dream though.

Anyway, I don't know if the WW as a whole would be terribly comprehensible for someone approaching it from scratch As I've said before, the WW is a nightmare of confusion for anyone new to it. And that's coming from someone who was here before half of you. I don't have the incomplete Story of Samildanach saved. Oh well.
