I'm pretty happy to read this, off the Mongoose forums, so I thought I'd come share it here.
Which we have just about done! After some extended file issues (these books really did not want to be printed!), Books 1-5 are now in full production and while we are waiting for an exact date, we are expecting to see them later this month. After that you will see future books come out on a regular basis, as quickly as Joe can okay them and our artists can fill them!
We are just completing the deal on the softbacks, and hope to have some solid news soon.
The first book of the RPG (or Multiplayer Gamebook, as it will be called) has been written, bar the introductory scenario, and okayed by Joe. We just want to get the gamebooks properly underway, and then we will be coming back to this with all speed.
And we have not forgotten the replica Sommerswerd either! However, replicating a sword with a (real) gold blade is proving something of a challenge that is testing the mettle of one of Britain's finest swordsmiths! However, we are still doggedly following this one up, and hope to have some news soon. . .
----------
And some good news from a quick email with Matt, the Sommerlund book isn't down and out, there's a good chance we'll see it as part of the new RPG when it's been released. Basically Mongoose want that out the door before they even think of looking at any kind of supplemental material.
But still, that's rather good news.

That's interesting, GW. How different will the new RPG be? From the sounds of it, it could be completely different.

Based on everything that has ever been stated about it thus far, it will be a completely different game.

Totally, more akin to the old gamebooks than anything to be honest, Agrarvyn.

Fair enough. Will the system be complex enough to support a full role-playing system, or is it just a vehicle for playing the LW books multi-player, rather than being a self-contained RPG?

From what I can tell, it should be a complex enough system to support full-on rpg, but as always I can't comment until Mongoose releases more info. I can say that converting it to 4e would have been a massive undertaking considering what WotC did with their core classes.
Edit:
It _is_ a full roleplaying system - however, it is much simpler than pretty much anything else out there right now, being based heavily on the mechanics of the Lone Wolf books.
Regards,
Matthew

So there you have it, right from the Mongoose.

I may be a bit thick in the head here, but I seem to need a little bit of clarification...
Originally Lone Wolf was released as a series of choose-your-own-path books. I'll call them gamebooks.
Later Mongoose published a tabletop Lone Wolf RPG (which seems to have been practically erased from all existence). I'll call this a tabletop RPG.
Now Mongoose seems to be re-releasing (with funky new cool story, art, etc.) the original gamebooks.
So... what is this thread about? A re-release of the tabletop RPG with new rules? The only thing Mongoos has on their website are the special edition gamebooks.
Please help clear the fog and dull the Mindblast.

Yes, that is correct, Mongoose also plan to release a new Lone Wolf RPG system (not re-relase the d20 system from years ago) although other matters seem to have pushed this mack to the end of year, start of next (hence nothing on their website yet)
If you check their forums you will see some threads on that very discussion
Note that the old RPG is still available as at least pdf files from places such as drivethru rpg, and also Mongoose themselves made the main book available for a limited time too

Yeah, I actually have all three of the tabletop RPG books Mongoose put out (Lone Wolf RPG, Magic of Magnamund, The Darklands, and Dawn of Destruction). They're still pretty darn expensive via drivethru, which is unfortunate. But I'm actually interested in seeing what they come up with for a dice system all their own rather than using the d20. I look forward to it. Thanks for clearing that up for me, Beowuuf.

To put this more clearly: Mongoose will publish several new things about LW:
Gamebooks: -Collector's Edition (hardbacks only available from Mongoose, 500 copies only): Books 1 to 4 currently available; books 5 to 32 to be released in the following months -Softbacks (unlimited quantity, available in stores, Amazon, and from Mongoose): to be published at the beginning of next year
LWRPG: Brand new LWRPG with different rules than the precedent version, not D20. Coming soon (the artist has already made the artwork for the cover).
Novels: Two trilogies of aventures with different characters from Magnamund. First novel of both trilogies in their Collector's Edition to be available very soon (next month? this week? we don't know anymore). Softbacks to be available at the same time than the softback version of the gamebooks.

Ahhh... thank you for that. I can manage with softcover's of the gamebook re-releases I think. As I mentioned, I'm really looking forward to the non-d20 tabletop RPG rules. And novels! That's great to hear. It'll be nice to see Magnamund through fresh eyes (or different characters at least).
I have friends who will be excited to learn of this as well.
Thanks again.
