Yeah, the volcano thing was excellent. Magnus is freed from the rock only to discover Galvatron, too, is free - and Magnus has to go and fight him again. There was a palpable sense of despair there.
I also recall something early in the 'Target: 2006' arc with the Autobots teaming up with Megatron to try and defeat Galvatron - all of them oblivious, of course, to Galvatron's origins.

yeah, you get the start of one part has iron hide digging through rubble, and after you see the disaster of them attmpting to attack gavatron, it reveals ironhide digging up megatron from where he was buried
Man I need to get those comics out of storage!

Man I need to get those comics out of storage! Me too! ;D If you have way too much money to burn, I think they have all been released in various collection books. I have a couple, but I think the whole lot might be available, albeit for an alarming total price! Target: 2006 was awesome too, though it's a little unfortunate that Furman had always to fit his far superior stories into the U.S. continuity; hence Target: 2006 is a superb story at the end of which nothing whatsoever has changed! Of course, it is entirely justified by the way in which it fleshes out the characters involved and really lays the seeds for where he took Galvatron and Ultra Magnus later on, but it makes absolutely no difference to any of the events surrounding it at all! Brilliant though his future setting stuff - where he could escape the need to fit with the U.S. comics - was, it's a bit of a shame he didn't get to play around with the classic characters like Optimus Prime, Jazz, Megatron, Soundwave and Starcream more than he did. Hey, did anyone see the episode of Family Guy where Soundwave gets Employee of the Month at Peter's work? I almost fell off my chair! ;D (Always my favourite Decepticon was Soundwave.)

Rings a bell...
They did some funny incidental stuff later when the US stuff ran with short UK stories, like starscream (after the underbase incident) walkigng around depressed as he thinks everyone is laughing at him, when everyone is still mortally terrified of him.

I remember Transformers taking an even darker turn later on, after I stopped getting the comics and my younger brother took them up instead. I read part of the Matrix Quest and the thing with a Decepticon called something like Thunderwing being possessed by what was essentially a maleveolent Creation Matrix. There was also some stuff with Megatron and Ratchet becoming fused together into one drooling, incoherent being and begging Powermaster Optimus Prime to kill them/it. Also, something about one of the Dinobots (I think Grimlock, but I'm not sure) encountering some kind of addictive substance on an obscure, swampy planet somewhere. In a thinly-veiled (but still pretty sinister) anti-drugs way, this stuff made mechanical lifeforms feel wonderful, but gradually destroyed them in some way.
I glanced through a couple of my brother's issues and was astonished at how grim it could be.

Marvel UK stuff was awesome!! Wish Id never got rid of all my old comics now Ive got loads of the new Armada toys at home, including Unicron and Omega Supreme. Despite popular opinion I thought the Armada storyline was very interesting and the toys look very good all set-up together. Going to see Transformers 2 tonight. Im hoping the sub-title, Revenge of the Fallen, means that Megan Foxs outfit is even smaller than before!

Update - saw TF2.
Awesome!!
Ok the plots as flimsy as hell and some of it is just LOL-funny, but for 2+ hours of robots kicking the living crap outta each other, I'll take it! Rates high on the Michael Bay Explosions factor, which in this kinda movie isnt too much of a bad thing. A movie like this isnt gonna win any awards, but there are solid performances by LeBouf and Fox, who actually can act AND look good in hot pants at the same time!*
Overall, Id give it 4/5.
*thats Fox in hotpants, not LeBouf. Just to clarify.

The last forty minutes were rather long and dragged out, my brother summed it up best I think.
Baywatch with giant robots!

Went to see the new Sacha Baron Cohen film, BrĂ¼no, yesterday. OMG! A lot of hilarious parts! But also, sometimes, it feels that he goes a little bit too far. But my, it's a good laugh. Zipp, might be interesting for you to take this movie and talk about nudity! ;D

Anyone seen the new Harry Potter? I'm quite interested in seeing it. Of course, we all know the films are pale shadows compared to the books, but I'd still like to see it.
Saw Order of the Phoenix over the weekend. The fight in the Ministry was very well done I thought. And Umbridge was a perfect casting. I now need to see Goblet of Fire, then I've seen all of them up to 5.

I've seen it and the earlier films as well. Only read book 2 and 7 though so I do not have much to compare with between films and books. Books do make quite a lot details which you miss in the films apparent.
The film makes some items clear which is mentioned in Book 7 which I otherwise wondered about, no doubt it omits quite a lot of things as well.
As to how it compares to the other films. Hmmm... it didn't strike me as the best film in the series, neither is it the worst. Somewhere in the middle I'd say.

Cool, thanks for that Robert. I probably will go see it based on that recommendation.
I'm a bit surprised you read Book 7 without reading 6 first. Did you find it easy to follow what was going on? I got the impression that Books 6 and 7 were two parts of the same story (much like Lord of the Rings is all one book, really). Course, since I read all the books before getting to 7, my impression might not be that accurate.
