These are not fans. These are fafans (people who suddenly discover that they are fans only if the team makes the playoff) or fake-fans that use this opportunity to break things, like it happens so many times with different peaceful events. This is just sad, but I'm sure the cops will adjust for the next round.
Tonight is the last night for the first round. Will the Sharks eat the Flames, or are the Flames going to roast the fishes? Will Alexander the Great have a meeting with Sid the Kid in the second round or are the Flyers going to fly to Montreal? All that and more at the end of Chapter 1 of the 2008 NHL playoffs!

I must say that it sad what have happened. It's not the first time that Montreal's police car get torch in the past last weeks. Maybe it's related or not but we have a little group of extremist that have already torch 5 or 6 police car in a police station parking lately. Anyways, when we have to control this kind of group of people, it easy. They are just there to enjoy something. After a while, the group disperse on his own. The only problem, it's because they are forming a group, which the group IQ lean on a lower level. It's just take one or two illuminated to scratch the matches.

According to the most recent news, the cops have arrested some teenagers. Easy to know now it was not Habs fans. Just little misunderstood that need a little care.

A shame to see what happened afterwards (can't be real fans to do stuff like that after such a victory), but nevertheless: GO, HABS, GO!Unfortunately, I was slightly wrong about our Channel Five's scheduling; we got a game 6 - Washington vs. Philadelphia. Luckily I had a team to root for since Huet moved to the Caps, and it really was a cracking match (including Montréal/Boston updates), so I can't complain. It would appear that after such a terrific victory last night, Washington have managed to lose on home ice tonight (the NHL website isn't entirely clear right now), which is a shame. Maybe the Flyers is better next for Montréal than the Rangers....maybe.... I've gotta say I'm glad I didn't see Carey Price's bad match last week. They showed his big mistake and it was horrible! Excellent that he's got a shut-out to go into the next round with after that! Were my informed predictions - okay, random guesses and hopes - correct? Montréal - YES! Rangers - nope. Pittsburgh - nope (but I always root for the Canadian team ). Philadelphia - nope. Detroit - yes. Colorado - yes. Dallas - yes. Calgary/San Jose - finding out shortly (c'mon Flames!). 4 out of 7 then - might just as well've flipped a coin. EDIT: And San Jose beat Calgary. Yep - a coin would'a done it.

After round 1, I've a record of 4-4 on predictions (Did you noticed that teams ranked 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th all made it to the second round in both conferences?)
So it's going to be a war between the Habs and the team from the city of brotherly love; Rangers are going to fight some Penguins; Sharks will try to make some cowboys to bite the desert dust; and the Wings will try to fly over the Avalanche. Interesting confrontations there, especially the one between San Jose and Dallas.

Then again, I'm always mildly amused by the fact that the baseball World Series never includes a non-American team. Toronto Blue Jays. Winners 1992 and 1993, and they have made it a few more times IIRC. The World Series was called that when the USA was the only country that played the game.

Interesting confrontations there, especially the one between San Jose and Dallas. Ah, yes - ice hockey must be in the blood on the freezing coast of, er, California and in the sub-zero climate of....Texas. You know, I read an interview the other day with an actor working in Vancouver who said he was taking the opportunity to see some hockey games while he was there 'cause there isn't much chance to see hockey in Texas where he comes from. I can't blame him if he doesn't know that there's an NHL team based in Dallas, 'cause you have to ask yourself: why!?

Ah, yes - ice hockey must be in the blood on the freezing coast of, er, California and in the sub-zero climate of....Texas. Oh, but San Jose is one of the expansion teams from the 90s that got the best success at the ticket booth (if we exclude Ottawa). Look at Tampa Bay and Florida (Miami): their arena is almost empty, and when the Habs play there, there's always more Montreal fans than there is of the local team. You know, I read an interview the other day with an actor working in Vancouver who said he was taking the opportunity to see some hockey games while he was there 'cause there isn't much chance to see hockey in Texas where he comes from. I can't blame him if he doesn't know that there's an NHL team based in Dallas, 'cause you have to ask yourself: why!?He must be lying. There's one NHL team in Texas, just like there's one in British Columbia. However, there's more professionnal hockey teams from minor leagues in Texas than there is BC (not me, the province). Texas: Houston Aeros and San Antonia Rampage (American HL), Texas Wildcatter (East Coast HL), Amarillo Gorillas, Odessa Jackalopes, Laredo Bucks, Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, Corpus Christi Rayz, Austin Ice Bats, Texas Brahmas (Central HL) British Columbia: Victoria Salmon Kings (ECHL) (there's also 6 junior hockey teams, but these are not professionnal teams) I remember last year when the NHL All-Star Game was played in Dallas. They mentionned that, when there was like only a handful of arenas and hockey teams in the metropolitain region before the North Stars moved from Minnesota to Dallas, there's is now several leagues and arenas ever since.

Fair play. Good to know that hockey's making an impact, even in as unlikely a place as Texas. But I still wouldn't be surprised if most people thought that it's a sport that you'd best go to the frozen north to see. Anyway, I'm picking Colorado and Dallas in the West, and Montréal and Pittsburgh (now that I can spell it!) in the East.

Detroit is beating Colorado 2-1 right now. Sarra, who would be putting up Gold Crowns on Detroit right now if we were at the old site.
