Fellow French Canadian The Oiseau (Martin Charbonneau) is a fan of Lone Wolf and gamebooks in general. A few years ago, he started a series of gamebooks featuring a young female Kai from the New Order called Autumn Snow. He first wrote it in French but translated it in English. And he now makes the first book available on the web. Called "The Pit of Darkness", this 350-section gamebook uses the same rules as the regular series. So go give it a try and make comments if you want to see more of Autumn Snow! Well, apparently, Megara Entertainment, the publisher of the collector's edition re-issues of the Way of the Tiger, Fabled Lands, and Bloodsword gamebooks, has announced that it's doing a crowdfunding operation to help publish this spin-off series. The goal is to raise 8,000 euros by October 10th. In fact, even if the goal is not met, the book will be published, both in a French and in an English edition. Joe Dever is involved in the project, so this is not someone trying to make money with JD's creation without giving him what he deserves. More details are available here: linkAnd BTW, the founder of Megara Entertainment was the big boss of Magnamund Studios back in 2005... The old members of the LW community will remember that at that time, this French studio was trying to make a MMORPG out of the LW universe. They even published a short video of a Drakkarim battling a Kai Lord on the docks in Toran! Sadly, the studio closed in 2005 and we had to wait several years before seeing a new LW video game. EDIT: I forgot to mention: Gary Chalk might get commissionned to make illustrations for the series if the objective of 8,000 euros is met.

A worthy cause if ever I saw one.

The goal was lowered to 5,000 euros. There's still three weeks left and they got 863 euros already.

I'm a little bit surprise as Megara has closed its crowdfunding campaign one day earlier than expect. Anyways, they have raised 2,333 euros (that's 47% of the 5,000 goal). Even if the main objective wasn't reached, the book will go in print next winter, with a new cover by Gary Chalk who will also do the internal artwork. Let's keep an eye open to see the preview of his work soon.

It appears Megara has gone on to meet the initial 4000 Euro with funds from themselves too. Posted on Facebook:
"My thanks to all the supporters for this first in-house campaign. What's next? Megara will complete the funding needed. I already sent 4000 euros to Gary and so he has enough to illustrate the interior. I will push further and try to gather the cover cost as well. Gary told me it should be fine to finish all the book illustrations by January or early February. So I will probably start printing the book around that time. I'll post any news on this page. You'll also get an email when the illustrations are done. I will not show here all the illustrations but at least 2 or 3 besides the cover. So after posting those the page will be a bit silent until next year - but I'll try at least to indicate you Gary's progress. We will probably also do a Kickstarter at the end of next year for a sequel. We could not use KS for this first book because we had already the Lone Wolf boardgame on that platform and my partner Richard didn't want us to run 2 KS campaigns almost at the same time. Thus the experiment to do it on our site. At least the 2300 euros gathered here have helped Megara with the costs of artworks by Gary. So it was not a bad thing. I might run other campaigns that way, some on KS, some here. Depending on the project and on what is running on KS."

On the Kickstarter page of the new LW Boardgame, those who will pledge more than $40 will get a copy of the first book of Autumn Snow. Well, it seems that Gary Chalk has finished the cover illustration for it and can be seen on the Kickstarter page:

The book got sent to kickstarter backers, I'm not sure what the status was for selling it afterwards.
