...but I couldn't find a suitable existing topic in which to share it. This might seem like a non-event, so let me share some context. I've had several serious relationships, but in each case it has been the girl who has made the first move. Flattering in a way, but disheartening when you realise that every single time I have ever made the first move myself, the answer has been no. In some cases the girl has even told me herself later on that she was interested but just decided to say no for some reason. So imagine my horror/disbelief when, after asking out one of my new friends by Facebook message (her phone's broken) with ill-advised spontaneity, I got a YES. My reaction was to exclaim "No f*&^ing way! You're having a laugh!" aloud, alone in my little flat. I have broken my duck. At 29. Non-event in some ways, as I said. But to me, absolutely astonishing. I'm actually quite alarmed. I honestly expected, even knew, that she'd say no. And since it happened a matter of moments ago, I felt the need to share it with people I trust. Hi guys. ;D

Lol, share away. A 'woo' and a well earned 'hoo' for breaking such a horrible streak of luck and circumstance!

LOL! Congrats! This might be the girl that you'll keep all your life, so it is probably very meaningful that she has accepted after you asked her out. Have fun!

Hahaha, I was kind of on an adrenaline high. It still hasn't entirely sunk in. I keep stopping and thinking "I asked Daisy out? Argh!" and then "She said yes?! Double argh!" Life is a funny old thing. Now I have the problem of needing to go on a date. I HATE dates. Choosing an activity and venue, trying to make conversation, feeling self-conscious. I hate it. Sigh. I'll also share this little titbit of information. Apparently her "best thing that's ever happened to me" moment was when someone gave her a birthday cake in shape of Minas Tirith with a little pasta Gandalf on top. I like geeky girls.

I think I understand your feeling that's how my arranged married went. I wasn't sure how would the girl reacted when we met the first time but then she said 'Yes' so now I'm already someone's fiance.

Oh, well, you can talk about the fact that Ian McKellen will reprise his role of Gandalf in the upcoming Hobbit movies. That should fill a good two minutes of conversation. Or you can talk about the fact that Han shot first! Not a good idea if she's not in Star Wars. The venue might be hard to find since I don't even know what kind of things you can do in winter where you live. But if there is a skating ring, bring her there!

Oh, wow, congratulations! And good luck! Sharing the interest in fantasy stuff definitely is a good thing for a start of a conversation. Keep us informed!

Haha, one evening she said something was like "millions of voices crying out as one", which is more or less a Star Wars quote. ;D

Hahaha, yeah, pretty much. And I just remembered that my favourite local restaurant always closes for the winter. Bah.

Sigh. Women. Mental note for future dates: ask what she wants to do. When I made my suggestion and then added "if there's something you fancy doing, let me know" she responded with "it might sound dull, but how about just going to the pub?" If I'd asked her this two days ago, I could have avoided having to rack my brains. Women, women, women.
