Melor scanned the area and found something that really lifted his spirits high, of which he rushed to without a care in the world.
"Books!"
Melor would fully plunder the bookshelves and the desk next to it. If he has enough rounds, he would look at the speaker pedestal and the cupboard next to it.

Doomy relaxes a little. "You are the first dwarf I have seen down here," he says. "Do you think your lads could have been captured?"

Seren follows the soldiers to the secret door and reluctantly eyes the bookshelf nearby. Hoping to avoid having to make use of the books, he speaks to the soldiers as they look at the guards' exit.
"What is this place?" he asks. "And what are you lot doing here? I'm assuming the rescue wasn't intentional." After a moment's pause he glances back at his fellow prisoners and adds, "Though we're all very appreciative, I'm sure."

Melor would look for Lore and poetry, anything that relates to history. He's more of a historian.

Melor: To your amazement you find a copy of a book you have long looked for but failed to find. There is not a lot of book in your genres but you do make this one very desirable find.
(You can decide the book name and author yourself.)
You can do what you want with this book now. I gather you will eventually put it in your pack.

Seren: The soldiers are not very talkative, but you do learn that they were sent here to finish off the cultists in this area. They are a part of a larger group and the other group lie in wait at one of the exits for the secret tunnel.
"You can wait here until we dealt with them. We'll escort you to one of the main hubs down here, once the cult's been dealt with. Our task is to prevent the cultists from doubling back, so we will set a trap and an ambush here."

Doomy:
The dwarf answers. "Nah. More likely delayed by the elementals. They'd most likely be found somewhere down here soon, and I reckon that is either in the armoury or in the tavern with a keg of ale."
"What are the two of you doing down here?"

"I'm acting as a temporary bodyguard to Grey Ferret here," says Doomy. He waits a moment to see if the Kai Lord wishes to volunteer any information about his mission.

Melor's eyes widened with disbelieved when he saw the title of one of the book in the selves. it was written on the red coloured leather bounded book the words "Journal of the Children of the Sun". It was an ancient book written by the Kai Lords as a collection of their collective knowledge on many of the wonders and dangers of the world, mostly details on the remains of various lost civilization and their legacy. Only a few of these book were written, by hand, by the Kai Lords themselves long before they were wiped out and the coming of Lone Wolf. Melor made sure that no one else noticed the book and secretly keep it in his bag.
Alright, move to the next one.

Cultists? The soldier's comment rather confirms that the prisoners were probably to be used as sacrifices. Seren grimaces: he is well used to rooting about in ancient tombs and temples that once played host to dark beings deeds, but people in the here and now messing about with evil powers they almost certainly can't control is something he dislikes intensely. And would rather avoid. Still, the setting up of sophisticated cults does not come cheap, so the organisation using these chambers likely has considerable funds, the aquisition of some of which might partly make up for being bashed over the head and kidnapped. Not to mention the loss of his prized jacket. Though really, to play at least a small role in the cultists' downfall would be the only properly satisfying thing.
Inwardly admonishing himself for having impractically ambitious notions, Seren nods to the soldiers and leaves them to setting up their ambush. He turns his attention to the pedestal nearby, wondering if there is anything on it or about it that might tell him about the cult that inhabits this place.

Melor adds the book to his Backpack.
Seren and Melor then go to the pedestal. You'd end up there at about the same time.
Both of you find a hidden compartment in the pedestal. After a short inspection you do not find any traps around it and open it.
The Pedestal itself has the following things easily accessible:
3 Notebooks 2 Quills and Ink pots 2 Candles (Stearine)
The rest of the Pedestal is made in wood.
The secret compartment contains:
5 Vials of Unknown and unlabelled potions. (You can try to identify these separately. Judging by the colours they contain different things.) 2 Ruby 2 Sapphire 2 Acid bottles 1 Gold Bracelet 1 Jewelled Brooch 1 Jewelled Diadem 1 Runic Wand
You can try to identify these things. All the items which there are 1 of are unique enough to have some special properites, good or bad.

Doomy:
The Kai and the dwarf exchanges some information and the Kai briefly explains the need to find a cult hideout. It turns out the dwarf has a clue as to where one possible cult hideout may be, since he narrowly avoided an encounter with the cultist not many minutes ago.
In the end, the Kai asks the dwarf to show the way. The dwarf asks for a cut in the loot for his help.
The Kai leaves it to you to settle the shares between yourselves, since the Kai has no share in the loot to begin with.
Doomy: You are given the offer of an even split of the loot between yourselves.

His attention most immediately taken by the jewels and the jeweled items, Seren makes a show of being just as interested - if not more so - in the other articles as he looks through the small haul from inside the compartment, turning things over in his hands to examine them.
"What do you think?" he says to his fellow escapee when holding the potions up in turn towards the nearest available light source. "Practical or poisonous?" He glances at his erstwhile associate, eyebrows raised. "Fancy trying one? If it does happen to kill you, I'll say nice things about you." He grins. "Seren, by the way," he says, accompanying the introduction with a slight roll of the eyes.
Seren is not interested in the items found on top of the pedestal unless the notebooks contain any obvious information about this place, though he won't look very carefully for that. The contents of the hidden compartment are very interesting. He is actually least interested in the potions, and is therefore outwardly showing more interest in them than in everything else.
