Part of me is ridiculously excited, the other part apathetic.
In both cases the emotion is odd, because I've never seen a single A-Team episode.
Has anyone here ever seen "Bring Back the A-Team?" That's hilarious AND interesting. Sadly, I believe it was taken off of youtube.

Is that the thing where someone tries to assemble the core cast for a little get-together? If so, I saw it when it was broadcast here. It was mildly interesting, but also a little sad. Only one of them actually turned up.

Only one of them actually turned up. Not at all! Everyone showed up, excpet MR. T, who he still managed to interview (amazingly).

Has anyone here ever seen "Bring Back the A-Team?" That's hilarious AND interesting. Sadly, I believe it was taken off of youtube. Yeah, that was brilliant! Very, very funny - partly because Justin Lee Collins just is funny, partly because the A-Team was such an absurd show - but with a good respect for the programme and those who made it. It was a shame that Mr. T didn't join the others, but he came across quite well in the interview. The bit I remember most - 'cause this is going back two, three, four years, isn't it? - is the clip they showed of the bad guys' helicopter crashing into a cliff, exploding, falling to the bottom of the ravine, only for the pilots to stumble out coughing and spluttering, but otherwise fairly much unharmed. No one ever gets killed in the A-Team! Which may be ridiculous given the things that happen, but it's also not a bad thing. As for the film, I'm not optimistic. The show was nonsense. But it was entertaining because of the cast. Note: not the characters really, the actual cast. With other people playing those characters, I can't see it working. But, hey - you never know....

I completely agree with Simey, as a fan of the A-Team series. The same is for all the other series of those times, a great deal of their fame was based on the actor more than on the character. Who will be interested in a Mc Gyver movie who doesn't feature Richard Dean Anderson, or a Magnum P.I. Movie without Tom Selleck. Exceptions could happen, but it's rather difficult.

Yeah, a part of me wonders if it's going to be new actors playing the old actors playing their characters, if you know what I mean.
Though the director said he wants it to be really serious. He's compared his vision to that of Batman Begins.

A while back I read an interview with Dirk Benedict where he talked about the new Battlestar Galactica... he said he felt that, in the 21st Century, you just couldn't have a show about macho, manly men anymore. Of course the new Starbuck was a woman - times have moved on.
Maybe the same logic applies to the A Team. Gosh, I hope the new BA Baracus isn't a chick...
Actually, I hope that Mr T has a role in there somewhere. The dude really seems to need the work...

The other two living actors (Dwight Schultz and... is it Dirk Benedict?) will be appearing. The new BA BAracus is one of the freestyle marital arts boxing mess em up good whatever champions.

Mr T turned down the offer to cameo in the movie. And yet he's happy to do the home shopping channel? Wow, it seems beggars can be choosers...

Who will be interested in a Mc Gyver movie? Sorry - had to straightforward-ise that one. ;D Batman Begins? Yikes. Batman had a more serious background before the camp of the [terrific] 60s TV series and film. From where do they expect to tease out a serious side to the A-Team? I smell yet another bog-standard actioner with no personality and little entertainment value. I'm not saying I don't hope I'm wrong, but I'll be surprised if I am.

I have to agree with you, Simey. I'll be very surprised if anything good comes of this.

They want to make a serious A-Team film?
Hmm...
"In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit..."
There you go. A specific, fixed point in time to hang the concept on. Make all of them embittered Vietnam vets, all around 60 years old, hardbitten fugitives who've somehow survived decades on the run in the Los Angeles.
Think The Wild Bunch in the present day. Of course the complete inability of anyone appearing in the A-Team to injure anyone else with firearms might be an issue...

Think The Wild Bunch in the present day. Of course the complete inability of anyone appearing in the A-Team to injure anyone else with firearms might be an issue... But their complete invulnerability to being injured by anyone else's firearms has got to help, surely? ;D The real way to do an A-Team film would be to go completely the other way: have them mow down dozens of enemies with automatic weapons, and have three of the four characters dead by the end, with only Hannibal left, and even him only just managing to shoot the last bad guy before he collapses from his injuries. I have to say I'm not expecting that particular interpretation.
