Red Entertainment, who has secured the right to make a video game adaptation of the LW series last year (as mentionned by JD at the last Salon du Jeu in Paris), has confirmed that they are developing the game to give it a more manga-style flavor. We had heard in the past that Red Entertainment had taken over as the developper of the game after Ksatria closed its doors back in February 2009, but it the first time that we get actual details about it. Yasuaki Nagoshi, one of the major shareholders of Red Entertainment, signs a blog under the pen-name of Orz over at the company's website. In his entry on March 30th (you can read it here: ameblo.jp/red-entertainment-staff/entry-10495378589.html), he roughly says (sorry, my Japanese is not perfect): "After we took over the project, we realised that what Ksatria had done so far was way under what the fans wanted. We discussed this with Joe Dever-san and came to the conclusion that we had to start the project over, this time by using more manga-based graphics. We know North-American and European fans will not be pleased at first by this, but just wait to see what we have to offer. We are confident that a manga-style game will please everyone". Nagoshi doesn't mention a specific date for a release, but he says that it might take another two or three years of development before we see a preview of the new version of the game. *** I know what is going to happen now... So go ahead, fire at will! I'm not pleased at all either...

I don't like this statement. Ksatria was doing something very cool, from the looks of it. How does a manga-style game give the fans what they want? That doesn't make sense to me at all.

I'm in accord with zipp here...Lone Wolf isn't manga, I am so bloomin' sick of manga it's like the new pink. I also realise that this MIGHT be an AF joke...
However, it's well past that stupid time here now.

Well I for one am willing to keep an open mind about this. It may well be good. Though I do hope they go for 3rd person as the viewpoint, instead of 1st person.

Aw, Grey Wolf was right: it's an April Fool's joke. I thought that posting it late during the day (it was around 6 PM for me) that people wouldn't see through the joke right away. I hoped that this fake news would had caused has much comments than my last April Fool'sjoke two years ago: daziarn.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=lorespirit&action=display&thread=22&page=1So good people of TotS, you can sleep easy: there's still no details about a manga-style video game about LW. ;D

Well you certainly got me Blackcat. However, is the news that Red Entertainment has picked up the video game accurate? Or is no one devloping a Lonewolf game?

No, the part of Red Entertainment ( Gungrave series) is genuine. Joe Dever mentionned it back when he appeared in Paris last November at the Salon du Jeu. However, I'm still waiting to see an official mention on the company's website (or maybe they already mentionned it: it's just that I don't read Japanese ). Since JD will be in Germany in two weeks, maybe we'll hear more about this project. EDIT: Moved the thread in the Lorehall of Solaris because this is no real news item.

Oh snap! I totally bought into this one!
Good choice of topic... I've been worried about the LW game since it switched companies!

I think, knowing this company, the game will probably be more along the lines of an action game, Devil May Cry style. Which could be totally bad-ass, actually.

That's very believable. But seriously, they'd have to be pretty thick to make my pessimistic prediction come true.

Yeah, I don't think they'll go anime with it, though I imagine there will be a certain anime style to the character models seeing as, after all, they are Japanese and that is the standardized art form in Japan.
