Shockingly, an on-topic actual LW thread! This really stems from BC's thread about the new RPG book coming next year, it got me thinking about one particular sentence in the press release. Now this got me thinking about the solo books, particularly Weaponskill. While W'skill has its obvious uses, beyond that it doesnt get more than it should especialy when choosing what type of weapon you want to skill in. That may not be clear, so let me expand. In DnD (dont all groan ) different weapons do different things. Daggers do less damage then a greatsword, edged weapons do half damage against skeletons where-as blunt do full. You get what I mean. There isnt any of that in the LW books. Only when you get to the GM level does it affect one W'skill ability, the flaming one which you cant use on a completely wooden weapon. So Im hoping 'goose do something about this in the new MP rulebook. Id like to be able to say "I have a spear so I have some reach", and not say "how come the little peasant with butter knife just beheaded that giak while my two-handed greatsword only scratched him?!" My 2 cents, feel free to discuss ;D

Well, Daggers can sometimes be used for other things. Sometimes like in the case of Kimah you can throw it.
Some sections give you specific bonuses or penalities for the task. Like if you would try taking Tagazin's symbol from him.
A spear is a good weapon to have in LW #13 when you want to top over the acid cauldron.
In the books there are also rules for using 2-Handed weapons with only one arm, often these weapons give penalties. There are some cases for this in Magnakai series as well.

Who uses anything besides swords anyway? The standard weapons of choice in the Kai Monastery seem to be swords and axes, since those are the only types that Lone Wolf forges for the Grand Masters. It would have been cool if the 10 new weapons represented each weapon type. In a bunch of sections, daggers are good at picking locks.. and then breaking afterwards!

I always found daggers really useful for the aforementioned lockpicking etc. I always try to have one of my two weapons be a dagger.

Maybe Lone Wolf just makes swords and axes because he likes them / is used to them?
His "canon" weapons are the Sommerswerd (a sword), and a wood-chopping axe (at least to start with), are they not?

True, those are his canon weapons. There should be more on the weapons though in the MP, instead of dagger-lock picking and staff/spear-pushing.
