Jan - No Joke . I went online to see if I could get some actual data on Asahikawa (as I haven't actually been there myself, was just making an educated guess before), and came across this gem on wikitravel: "Asahikawa is the coldest city in Japan, holding Japan's temperature record of -41°C" You like skiing? Black Cat - Not telling Not who you expect...

Ooops... actually, I like cross-country skiing, but not in -41C. Although it's the same temperature record as for the Czech Republic... strange coindidence...
Anyway, thank you for the information. I'll probably send my boss there! ;D

Black Cat - Not telling Not who you expect... Oh, please! Tell us! Darren "GreyWolf" Pearce told us that his story was about Paido in book 8 before it was published. Can't wait until December when the book is finally published!

Darren "GreyWolf" Pearce told us that his story was about Paido in book 8 before it was published. Yeah, but be fair: that wasn't a hard one to guess! Book 13 is considerably less obvious. A tour of Mogaruith from the point of view of a plague hound perhaps....? Anyway, belated congratulations on your writing these mini-adventures, Seneschal! I've yet to play any of them - not yet made it to the end of new edition Book 1 - but am looking forward to them greatly!

Book 13 is considerably less obvious. A tour of Mogaruith from the point of view of a plague hound perhaps....? I wish I'd thought of that one, actually... that would have been fun . Mogaruith is probably my favourite location from the entire series.

So, if it's not who I expect (Cearmaine), then who's left? Hmmm... Rimoah? Banedon? The Herbalish who caugh the Cener in Ragadorn to get LW's vaccine? Or one of the 70 soldiers who escaped Ruel when they tried to invade it?

I bet it's Cadak. A mini story from the POV of the bad guy would be very cool.

Black Cat has it right - it's the Herbalish who tracks the Cener and gets the vaccine. I had thought of doing Cearmaine, but I felt that it would either end up too similar to the main adventure in terms of style and places visited, or too similar to the adventures I wrote for 4 & 11 (I didn't want to have another main character who had a bunch of troops, or have mass battles, etc.). I also thought that the Herbalish got a bit of a raw deal in the book - without his actions, Lone Wolf probably wouldn't have gone to Ruel at that time, and the plague would have killed everything on Magnamund. Poor guy saves the world, and all he gets is half a paragraph in "the story so far"...

Nice! It will be interesting to get to know the Herbalish. After all, they are mentionned in several books but we never actually meet one as far as I remember.

Yeah, the Herbalish get mentioned in background sections (reclaiming the Darklands etc.) quite a lot, but you never actually meet one.
Most of the rules & background stuff I based off the material in the Lone Wolf D20 "Magic of Magnamund" book sections on the Cener & the Herbalish. I asked Joe about Herbalish background and he basically said that the material in said book was canon, and that was all there was published on them.
