Is it worth kepign a list of who registers on the board in the few weeks, so that when the new TotS board come up a 'loyalty' medal or some such thing can be issued to thank those who stuck around during the transition and kept the community alive during that time?

Such a list can easily be obtained at any time - "Search for users who registered more than X days ago." (It's among the admin functions.)

Good idea. Of course it depends if WH intends to bring back the same sort of medal system as the old board. Im sure he'll commission some sort of "welcome back" medal to all re-registering members.

For my money, I think it might be nice to have a medal list continued, maybe even adding new people to the "honors list" if they act extradorinairy over here.
The medal system was one of the best things about TOTS, and some system of recognition would still be good.

I agree with Zipp, the medals were a great thing about the site

So maybe what we should do is start a new series of medals, or honors, that can be given to people. It would be a list on the main forum that people's names are added to for certain deeds.
For instance, everyone who helped recover material off the dead site could recieve a medal. And then there's the decathalon and other tournaments.
The nice thing about this is it continues to recognize members and yet is much easier to implement than medals (since it's a list, and not an HTML object).

As Simey did point out, we dont have to make this place too much like tots if the stay isn't going to be overlong... perhaps it is a good idea to keep it simple for now, and if we are still here for a while and want to recognise the hard works of members we can put a list up in the north watch or somehting as you suggested

You can simply sort the Memberlist by the order in which people signed up.
I also think it's best to consider this our forum home for the foreseeable future.

So, about that honorary list... I'd like to start one up if people aren't opposed. For now I'd like it be purely a list meant for tournaments, that's kept as a sticky on the Fields of Battle page. It would keep record of all tournament winners.
Any objections?

None from me, but it might be nice to start up other 'medal; lists too. Do we keep them as onel, or place them where they are needed - such as field of battle for tournaments and forge for creative endeavors, etc?

Well, a medal list would be fun, but it would definitely need to be kept in order and so forth.

I think a good place to start would be here for a membership medal, the class forums for class medals, the fields of battle for battle medals, and so forth.

I'll start the tournament one sometime soon.
I believe I have all the winners of my tournament (including the pet kontest!) but I don't have any of the decatholons or anyone else's tournaments.

Oops, almost a double post. Hope no one minds, I already started them (since the KDD4 is over I thought I may as well do that one now!) And I think that honouring past contests on the other board might put off new members? We can maybe gave a hall of honour for old contests is they are felt sufficiently important. I have the old ranking for the KDJT. Funny, I was goign to include it in the new Knights' jounral, except it took too long so a summary of 2007 seems a little bit late now
