Been an LW fan since 1991 when a thoughtful sister bought me 3 books as a birthday present. I was a member of some old mailing lists, but only became aware of ToTS recently. Where have I been? I'm glad I found this board now though. So, any rules/guidelines/major things going on I should be aware of?

Welcome! This is a pretty laid-back, smallish community made up of the best-behaved people on the internet. As such, we don't really need any formal "rules" beyond basic common sense. While we have mods, they seldom need to do an awful lot.

Welcome!
Take a look at the Questionnaire thread (in this Dormitory section). Copy and paste it and put your answers in it so that we can know you better!
And yes, we don't really have rules, just common sense. It is amazing how people can act as stupid bastards on the internet and be really polite in real life. So here, we just want people to be polite and act as in RL.

Welcome to the forums! Glad you finally found us.
As to major things going on.... well, Project Aon has finished releasing the old version of the LW books online, and has already realsed book 21 of the New Order GM series. Meanwhile, Mongoose are selling the republished LW books. They are the original books mostly, with new art, and cool new mini-adventures that tie in to the main adventure. However, book 1 has been completely re-written by Joe Dever to a mammoth 550 section epic!
If you didn't know, way back a set of D&D d20 rules were relased for the Lone Wolf world - there is a link to a second set of forums where we sometimes play online RPGs based on them or other rules that come along.
Plus we have an improvisional RPG storytelling thingie going on in the West Watch forums, where we play a character and take them through a post Lone Wolf MS5100 world.
Anyway, look around, and hope you enjoy our little corner of the net!

Nice to meet you all!
Heh, that questionairre is a bit long, so here's an abbreviated version.
My given name is Steve, I live in NY, possibly will be NJ in a few months. I'm pretty proud of my LW book collection, finally getting the elusive Buccaneers 2 years ago.
Favorite book? That's a toughie, but I'd have to say Curse of Naar. An epic conclusion that let us know there is still more to the story. (A pox on the US publishers that kept us waiting for a book that never came. When I eventually found out they were published in Europe, I bought all I could overseas to spite them - I'm looking at you Berkley!)
Yep, I'm a proud Mongoose Megadeal customer. I'm glad they're including new novels to the LW line. We're finally seeing more than a glimpse of what it's like for Magnamundians outside of Sommerlund, and what the impact of different countries/races has on their world.
It's really nice to know that there is so much activity here, at Project Aon, and Mongoose. Thanks all!

OBLIGATORY RECRUITMENT ATTEMPT:
If you have the New Order books and would like to help the "cause", you may be able to assist Project Aon with proofreading duties. In return for a fairly small effort, you will receive NO MONEY! and the chance to have your name added to the Internet Editions.

I think I can do a good job proofreading. Seeing the books online is great and all, but I think your "no money" reward is the deciding factor in making me want to help.

I joined Project Aon and made £0 a month working from home! To find out what needs doing, drop Outspaced a line on the PA forums. He knows what's up.

Welcome, welcome... Look around, take a look and if you see anything that you like don't hold back, just ask away. Please refrain from touching too much, once broken considered sold. Please come again whenever you're in the neighbourhood...

Welcome to the forums.
Have a look around. Mostly quiet here at the moment.

Looks like I missed a lot of fun from the Kai Discipline decathlon. The Mindshield and Animal Kinship posts made me laugh out loud! Doomy: Thanks for the suggestion! According to outspaced, PA doesn't need proofreaders, but they wouldn't mind more people to look for book errors or playtest their beta version. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute something.

If the proofreading is all done, that's a good sign for future releases. Still, as you said, there are still ways to make yourself useful.

All the XML versions of the books are ready. They just go slowly through the outstanding issues for each book.
