A Kai Lord is taught to use the power of his mind to manipulate distant or complex objects to great effect. A Kai Lord would do well to remember the lessons of Lone Wolf himself, and learn from Lone Wolf's great example throughout his career.
So, have you learned well? Here are ten description of times when Lone Wolf has used his object-manipulating disciplines to get himself out of trouble.
Can you name the book and section they are describing? Each of these describe a use of Mind Over Matter, Nexus or Grand Nexus.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Finding himself pulled underwater by a giant meresquid, Lone Wolf's time is short. Luckily, his discipline can aid him in fighting this fearsome foe before he drowns!
- book 4, sections 194 & 234
2. In a place where he would surely never have imagined himself to set foot in, except in his wildest nightmares, Lone Wolf uses his discipline to activate a circular slot. This unlocks a portal leading to the inner sanctum of twin creatures of evil. Little does Lone Wolf realise that a third figure is inside, one Lone Wolf has faced many times and ultimately defeated before!
- book 20, section 199
3. In the depths of a fearsome place even powerful mages fear to tread, Lone Wolf can float an unremarkable and unworthy sword in to his possession from the magically protected block on which it rests. As unremarkable as it is, the sword is a welcome weapon in this place at this time!
- book 7, sections 68 or 279
4. In one of the most feared cities on Magnamund, Lone Wolf manages to gain entry to Drakkarim barracks by using his discipline to extinguish the braid a Drakkar guard is using to try and light his pipe.
- book 14, section 163
5. The rising of a jug from a tavern seems a simple usage, but it is enough to convince Lone Wolf's sailor contact of the Kai Lord's identify. Little did Lone Wolf know this was not something he should have been proving to this particular 'sailor'!
- book 2, section 48
6. Not knowing the combination of an impressive bronze door, Lone Wolf uses his powers of precognition and mental manipulation combined to uncover the two numbers - 6 and 7 - that open it. Little does he know he is opening the door that leads to not one but two fearsome nemesiseseses. Es!
- book 5, section 8
7. While trying to warn his people about one of the largest threats Sommerlund has ever face, Lone Wolf is captured by Drakkarim. His discipline usage on the ropes that bind him is the only thing that stands between him and certain death by a reptilian leader. Little did Lone Wolf know that he may very well be running towards potential death by a lizard anyway!
- book 1, section 258
8. In a ruined chapel of great healing, Lone Wolf discovers a wondrous weapon that his skills can hep him obtain - floating it to his waiting hand. Little did Lone Wolf or the reader know how useless this weapon would be since Lone Wolf has the Sommerswerd for goodness sake!
- book 6, sections 24 and 276
9. When attempting to steal a Zlanbeast at a notorious harbour-city, Lone Wolf slides a crude drawbolt free to aid him in entering a building, little knowing he would be meeting with a deadly foe in mortal combat. Well, really he should have known it since he was off to steal a Zlanbeast. What was that old story about him not paying attention in class again?
- book 12, section 328
10. A cold chest in cold lands hides a great treasure that Lone Wolf finds useful for the rest of his career. A great deal of concentration is required from Lone Wolf's mind to break the magically shielded lock, but with determination he picks the lock of the chest. Little does he know that not even this item would ever prevent him from dying at the hands of powerful foes in later books, or he might not have bothered!
- book 3, section 185 and 326
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I reckon this one is a little bit more difficult than normal - though hopefully not by too much. Therefore, I will leave it open for the duration of the KDD5. Go on, prove me completely wrong and yourselves completely awesome and show me how little I knew, by PMing me a perfect set of ten answers!
