Can I stealth attack the soldier then from my position? I'm right in thinking he is the highest level of annihilator, yes?
If the damage is great enough Ill hack the soldier's head off, f not then just lop off his accusitory arm.
Edit: Oops, just realised the soldier is behind the other two in a line. Ok, will try to one shot whichever critter I can instantly kill (definitely the footman, I want to believe the warrior is possible) then carry on forward to the soldier and engage him.
Beowuuf will also let off some form of howl, then yell "You are spotted," to his companions. After his first stealth strike.
And just hope no sneaky bugger is around to stealth strike me.

No, the Warrior is the highest level, then Soldier and last Footman.
You can Power Attack for extra damage if you switch to the Sword this round. (Fast weapons cannot be Power Attacked.)
Attacking the Soldier is difficult since it is a moving target. You might make it, but you are likely (much) better off letting that enemy move off towards the tribal warriors.
You don't really need to howl unless you want to give away your position since the first arrows from the tribals warriors will land by the soldier before you can make your first attack.

Ah, as long as they known and aren't going to be taken unawares!
I will go for the power attack on the warrior then - if a second opponent proves a problem (and isn't killed by a stray arrow) then I might attack the footman later.
I'll devote all my points to attacking the warrior. I seem to recall not being able to do searches in the middle of combat anyway, so I guess I just need to concentrate on killing these guys off quickly!

Glad to know it was luck that gave him that damage! And also that he is almost down!
Is it a free action to swap back to the magical short sword?
Anyway, attack the warrior until he is dead, won't use power attack as it sounds like i need accuracy over damage.
If the rest start to swarm me, and I get about 3 - 4 people around me, would it be worth it to power word: concussive blast for 4 mana?
Hmm, I think I'd rather use any final attacks to thin the heard and concentrate on killing a footman (or even two) so there are less attacks concentrated on me.

Yes, you can switch to the magical shortsword for free.
An idea is to take one step forward (to the warrior) and use concussive blast for 2.
You will hit and down the warrior before he gets another attack and hit one soldier and one footman.
Two is probably the best number for damage. You gain little by increasing that number. You will be sure to down footmen in one strike and soldiers in two strikes, and that's probably the best you can hope for anyway.

That sounds like a good plan to me!
Beowuuf strides forward to his surprised and badly wounded foe, unleashing a concussive word with one hand while sheathing his bluesteel blade with the other.
he draws the magical short sword won from a dungeon far from here, preferring it's mystic power and small size for close quarters work. He gives a menacing grin to the remaining annihilators now their leader is downed, and encourages them to try their luck.
Edit: I think still aim for footmen first after the warrior is downed, to reduce the attacks against me.

Why did the footman take one damage from the failed attack?
Anyway, I guess storm forward to the soldier at T-4 and take him out!

Rolling a 0 on the attack either damages your weapon or yourself. This particular annihilator attacked you with natural weapons and took damage.
For brittle weapons, weapon damage is taken on 0 and 1.
The above applies regardless if you hit or not.

Beowuuf is annoyed that the soldier annihilator managed to nick the wolf's sword, but at least the fight is over and the wolf and tribesmen have won with their lives intact.
"A powerful shield magic, most effective!" says Beowuf nodding to the mage. However, Beowuuf is not completely at ease yet.
Woohoo!
Can I put three points in to a ranged search towards T4? Not convinced these are the only critters. Also search the warrior and soldier for anything interesting if I can.

Hmmmm .... luckily you have Mind Protection so I don't have to withdraw damage from you retroactively.
Your search yields nothing in particular. Everything is quiet. While you go loot your two corpses your tribal friends make a search of the remaining corpses.
The pool to the west which you have bypassed is contaminated. You could probably drop a weapon or some arrows in the fluid and cause them to become infected.
There is some plants to the north (T1). The tribal warriors warn you that those plants are poisonous and should be avoided.

Cool! Grab the belt and wear it - does it interfere with anything?
I guess Beowuuf needs to take some healing on to try and get close to 30 health again.
And I guess now is time for Beowuuf to bid a farewell to his tribal allies and head for the centre of the map.
Beowuuf bows to his allies. "I hope this has given your village some relief. I am travelling to the heart of the enemy camp, where I hope to end their means of coming to this place and causing harm. I fear I must take my leave of you and make haste."
Beowuuf would be happy to have the shield recast on him before he leaves if the mage is agreeable.
I think take heed of the dangers as indicated, and make for the Alether patch that was previously mentioned.
