Some resources
- The background and purpose of the West Watch is detailed in this thread here. Feel free to ask fundamental questions there.
- The 'Story So Far...' is detailed in this thread here. Both an an uber-summary of the West Watch story, and individual chapter summaries, are contained there.
- The state of the world, and the classes of character that populate the West Watch, are detailed in this thread here. This includes some summaries of their history in the West Watch.
- The Tome of the New Order contains individual entries for characters, places, people and events in the West Watch. It is a work in progress, but can give more details if required for your prospective story.
How to start
There is no right way to enter or contribute, and no real way to 'mess up'. The idea is to play your character, writing in the first or third person, and to not deviate too much from that POV unless it will inform upon your character's actions.
You can interact with others or find your own quiet corner in the world to tell your own story. The resources listed above will help you quickly find your place.
The entries are all written together in chapter threads. Every so often the current thread is closed (usually at a certain post count instead of dramatic point), and a new one opened with a summary of the previous storyline sought from all participants.
It is customary to create your own 'Story of...' thread first for your character. You can use it to introduce your character's past, or ease your story in to the West Watch story. There you can get feedback from the forum until it is time to dive in to the main West Watch Chapter thread!
The West Watch may seem daunting with its history, but much of this past is exactly that - in the past. The West Watch is at heart a simple canvas to share your own stories of Magnamund in, or as part of an easy collaborative role playing / creative writing excercise.
Further resources[/u]
- Black Cat and Ghost Bear have been the custodians of the West Watch since the beginning. If in doubt, ask them!
- Your class forum can be a good place to seek guideance and feedback on storylines without spoiling it to the forum at large.
- The Manual of the Kai is a work in progress resource detailing the world of Lone Wolf as detailed in the gamebooks.
