Haven't they been dead for a couple of days now? 'Abyssal' is one of my favourite words.

Sounds like a vendetta to me. Hmmm. I very much doubt I could take him, but I could soften him up for someone else to finish off...

It appears there's more than one ship named Thousand Sunny out there. I recently attacked one, then realised the captain's name was different and the guy I want taken out was protected at the time. It looks like they're part of a clan.

Doomy: Try to find one a few levels lower than you and sink them in retaliation. You are a Pirate so you gain extra Gold for blasting them from the sky.
As long as you get to give them a good spanking back it is not so bad to be sunk. If you get to hit them twice you probably earn more money and XP than if you spent the 10 AP on anything else. I've even chatted with people who wanted me to attack them just because of the mutual XP and Gold gain from fighting.
That said, I've mostly reverted to using AP to repair damages now. Each AP gives nearly 600 HP and that is more than I will earn on average exploring. I guess it may slow levelling a bit but on the other hand I will have more money available.

Pirates get extra gold from fighting NPCs too, and exploring also lets one find resources, so I spend most of my AP doing that. I usually only do PvP when I'm not protected as attacking a player leaves you open for counterattacks. In other news, I was outbid after offering 170,000 gold for Bomb Sails. Have any of you got these, and how much did you have to pay?

Never tried to buy that one as I never saw it go and a more appropriate price. Also putting the Giga Drill Breaker up there which I would like to have but not at 4-5 times its actual value. Fortunately I will be able to have a 3rd Battering Ram in a few levels to somwwhat make up for not having the better ram. Oh, and the Black Skull Crest is the same. It is overcosted by some 50% at the auctions and it is currently better to save up the resources and buy it that way.

I got my bomb sails, and my swashbuckler sails are now up for auction. If anyone wants them, there's a little less than 24 hours to go.

Seems it will now be possible to recruit captains on your friends list as crew (for a charge), as well as getting crew by invites.
Benefits of the crew is: 3 or more crew members: +1 additional AP/hour. 7 or more crew members: +1 additional AP/hour.

So can we all recruit each other then?

Nope. You can only recruit people who are not presently on Battlestations! It's that game's mechanism for getting you to "invite" people to the game without ramming the need down your throat like a lot of FaceBook apps do.
