Nothing of that sort as yet. There has been some "unofficial" assistance between members (mostly advisory), but some features of the game that are supposed to make that more straightforward are not yet active.
Incidently, it looks like you have 13 Stats points still to spend among your three stats. Might want to do so, as I do not think leaving an unspent pool actually accomplishes anything.

Ok, I've given in and bought a new ship. The Corvette class is far better than what you had before, particularly as you now move past the level 10 mark, and I think you will like it better. It's worth the expense. That said, I do know a fair number of players who did not replace their Corvette-class for a Frigate-class when that became possible. The Corvette class really does suit a lot of people, particularly by the time you get it upgraded to 7 or so.

I auctioned something for the first time today. In the past I've just sold unwanted gear, on the basis that an auction would be too much hassle. But you really do make loads more money on auctions than on straight sales.

Yes, auctions will permit you to buy much cheaper than in the shop and bid on any item regardless of port, and sell them at a much better price as well.
Still, you do need to invest some time in investing the auctions and actively bid for this to be good.
Also buying items for gold in the market will leave you with Ore and Wood to sell on the resource market and those prices are fairly good.
Always keep enough wood and ore to buy for all planned ship upgrades.
And yay, I just found the Legendary Trasure Island and got away with 42.000 Gold!

You definitely demonstrate the advantages of playing an Explorer, Aguila Saber.

Yeah, I was almost an Explorer myself, but opted for Engineer instead because it sounded like I got a good deal on repairs.

One does, yes. The plethora of hit points without needing special armor is a definite perk too.

Looks like you found a friend that mirrors your chosen tactics. Not nearly as well, of course, but still.

Wow, that was a good defend AS! Looking round to see if I should upgrade to the next ship, or continue to upgrade my current vessel. Also looking for new guns now.

Tough choice, actually. I know a fair number of people who have stuck with the Albatross, particularly among the pirates. I know another set of people, including myself, who went with the Vanguard. I will say, assuming you have 4 guns right now on the Albatross, that the Vanguard upgrade that upgrades IT to 4 guns comes very quickly (level 1 or 2, if I remember correctly). But, if you are relying on guns, especially subcannon, either ship is comparable so far as capacity goes (at least for the next dozen or so levels). So the matter comes down to whether you want the added hit points.
Can't say much in favor of the other frigate-class ships from my point of view. I understand why Aquila Saber went with the Merchant O' War, but I do not think the speed advantage of the Hammerhead compensates for the loss of half one's guns (unless you are one of those Pirates who spends most of his time running away from everyone...).
As for guns for at least a while after level 30, unless you have a particular fighting style in mind (and stats built around that style; Aguila Saber again as an example) or you have capacity issues for whatever reason, main cannon are pretty much the way to go.
