@ Zipp - I believe by the sheer number of posts in one day discussing this establishes that the Kai (or, more importantly, the Dwarfs) are not dead, just a bit quiet these days. I know the only real on line free time that I have goes to Mearin's game and that is about it.

Only 3Gb of d/l would probably get used up in no time, and 15Mb of storage doesn't amount to much when you start racking up the content. All the downloads are already hosted on other sites. We just need to put the links to them, like we have already in the Forge section of this forum. Like Maerin says, we only need to put a link this forum and other places of interest (like the LWRPG online games that you guys are holding on various forums). That's what Project Aon does: its forum is on ProBoards! The rest of the content of the new site would be more like an encyclopedia with mostly text (we can't go around the web and steal pics, but there will be some). Its design would be simpler than the one of TotS, and it will need to have another name since TotS is the creation of Winterhawk and I don't feel it's okay to pick the same name when the original creator is not involved in the new website (It would be like usurping his work). TotS was more RPG oriented. What I have in mind for the new website is it to be about the whole LW universe, not just the RPG. Many websites that were about LW have either be abandoned or were never completed. With the books being reprinted, I think this is a great opportunity for us to fill the void with LW content.

Fair enough, I just don't like jumping between forums to get my fix Jsut had a play with Geocities, the design program appears intuitive enough, might actually do somthing with what I've just created...

The Kai are not dead...but my monitor is...
It just refused to power on since last weekend. I am forced to concede that it is gone.
Will be getting a new one soon. Meanwhile I am using my back-up hard disk and my brother's old laptop to get by...
See you all.

Zipp is pleased to see her post be so successful! She is also pleased the Kai are around, as annoying as they can get in times of peace

I like the new avatar, Zipp. Less furry than the old one though.

I've been having a quick look at webjam.com this lunchtime. Which could be another option for a new site. I've never used it, but I'll be having a look at it in more detail when I have more than ten minutes in my lunch hour

I like the new avatar, Zipp. Less furry than the old one though. Thank you. Believe it or not, I do have a story in the works for the WW, involving a new character (you know I'll eventually tie her to the old cast). I haven't quite figured out how I want to tell it yet, though, and it could be many months yet before I lay it down on the table/forum. Anyways, this avatar would be a look at the new character.

This is my first time on for a few weeks and I was a bit shocked that the two LWRPoL games I'm sort of in have stopped completely. Activity has always gone in fits and starts, I suppose. Just when you think things are winding right down to nothing though, that's when you typically get a burst of activity. Currently, I expect Christmas preparations have a lot of people tied up (though I've not got even that far myself ). Though I can't think that I could of much use in helping with it, a new site tying this forum and various other things together does sound like a terrific idea. I've never noticed that PA was actually a separate site from its forums, so I can't see that linking from one site to another would be a problem for us.

Much like Slavemaster before him, Crymson seems to have disappeared without explanation. Fortunately Maerin is still very much active or LWRPoL would have ground to a halt entirely. Perhaps you could apply to join his game?

It is worth noting here that play-by-post games are not easy to run and even harder to sustain. In Slavemaster's case, I think it was the first one he had ever tried running.
Though it is hard to guess if this applied to either of my fellow GMs: a lot of times when a game effort caves in, the GM ends up feeling pretty bad over it (and, in an online forum, that means said person might "disappear"). Even though such situations are usually never anyone's fault, the feeling that it can cause remains.

I'm not sure how well the tone of my last post came across- I didn't mean it to sound disparaging or irritated. Never having been a GM, I don't know how much commitment it must require, but it is obviously not trivial. And forum RPGs stretch their demands over a long timescale. On top of that, Crymson was running two games simultaneously. Any reasonably-minded player would respect and support their GM's decision to resign if they felt it necessary. I'm willing to bet that in the history of forum-based RPGs many more games have ended abruptly than have reached their natural conclusions.
It is not the collapse of the game that causes concern, but the the lack of explanation, especially when it comes immediately after a regular pattern of updates. I think the big question we all want answers to is "are these guys OK?"

Well, Slavey's got form. ;D
He's vanished at least twice before for very extended periods. I think it was WoW's fault the first time. It's a shame 'cause he's a fount of interesting thoughts and ideas when he is around.
I too hope he and Crymson are alright.
I certainly can't complain about the games halting since my participation has varied between threadbare and zero for a long time. I was thinking I might have to bow out, but as the games themselves have - hopefully temporarily - bowed out, I suppose we'll just have to wait and see if can back into them. Maybe in the New Year.

I had planned on restarting my own game at some point, but I wasn't aware that LWRPG was back up. I thought everything was lost.

I think it was. But a new forum was started here.
