Darn, myself or Jan should have been promoting this here. Yup, coming out April 11th, pre-order now, it's looking good and is by a long standing DM.com fan that's been trying to get an incarnation of this style of RPG done for many years now!

It's getting great reviews too.
I preordered from GOG.com, it only cost $12, which is about £8 or so.
Can't wait!

Yeah, the pre-order price is like 20% off! And yes, it should be fun! As someone who has been playing the old DM style dungeons in one form or another for many years weird to be buying a new one wiht updated graphics!

Looks like it would be up your alley, providing you have a Nintendo DS.

You can pick up a DS quite cheap these days, now it's been superceded by the 3DS.

Good news, 16-bit RPG fans. Shadowrun is getting a proper sequel designed/written/whatever by the creator of the original and funded by Kickstarter.

Is this a follow up to the Megadrive/Genesis game or the SNES one?
Whatever it is, it's pretty mad that they sold out on $10,000 rewards...

Whatever it is, it's pretty mad that they sold out on $10,000 rewards... Not when you consider the attention Wasteland 2 has gotten. Seriously, click on this link and check out how much money they raised:

It is the honest truth that when I saw that number I literally exclaimed "fuckin' 'ell!" I take it that as Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun have already secured their development budgets I can simply buy them at the RRP once they're more tangible, ie released? I've learned a lot about giving money to exciting online projects over the years. For one thing, I own a Pandora handheld. But many still don't, years after they paid £300/$400 USD for it. From a consumer point of view, it makes a lot more sense to invest when you're guaranteed an end product, like a Steam download. If rich people are going to drop $10,000 on a vague promise a game will be awesome, fair play to them. As for the rest of us? Nothing's stopping the devs from sticking a "Donate!" button on the main menu, or introducing premium DLC. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for indie and homebrew. Not only is the utterly uncommercial Angband one of my favourite games of all time, I preordered Legend of Grimrock less than half an hour after learning about it. But I'd already seen a working product and knew what I was paying for. I sense a firm rebuttal to at least some of the above from the indie filmmaker in the blue corner...

For me, when projects are touting publicly for development money it makes me quite paranoid about the success of the project. For one, it seems hard to properly plan the budget for such a project, and if you don't know how much you have to spend, it follows (in my mind) that the end product is going to be a bit potchy.
This is quite different to preordering an announced indy title or something similar.

PS: I ordered Saints Row The Third, and it was dispatched on Thursday. Should be good fun!
