I was under the impression I can create my own character traits and develop it from there. The character I created is an Old Order Grand Master, which does not have all the New Order Disciplines which was developed by Lone Wolf, Lord Rimoah and Banedon.
Therefore, coming from a different generation, I decided to create him with the rank of a Grand Master, with his race's own traits. I presume the character is quite weak compared to all other characters who are already a full fledge Supreme master.
The purpose behind this character is to reflect my currect status as I have not been in touch with Lone Wolf for a few years.

Yes and no. You are free to design your character as you see fit, however since you are a "new" member to these forums at least, some restraint would be advisable.
I noticed you have "handicapped" your character by showing that although you could be a Kai GM, you do not have your powers. If this is your handicap, I hope you that you intend to "rediscover" your powers at the same rate a Kai acolyte would gain them, thereby making a slow recovery of your abilities, which would show your respect for the New Order and those who are established.
Now that would make an interesting story!

Although most characters whho're playing at the moment are Grand Master+ in rank, that doesn't mean that all of the New Order are Grand Masters. In fact, most won't be.
When the old site was up, we had levels based on your number of posts, and we capped your West Watch rank at this level (you could play lower level if you wanted - many did).
With the new site, we're not currently sure what restrictions we're going to have in place. I've sent a PM to my partner in crime BC (I think we still count as the WW keepers at least) about how to resolve this. I'm also looking for opinions in the WW OOC thread.

like eviltb said, I have disabled my character's kai powers and hope that throught the story at WW I will have an oppertunity to rediscover my abilities. As for my inherited abilities (the ones that come with my race), they work to a certain extend only. ie my vision is limited to only seeing heat signatures as well as different light specturms. therefore enemies might be able to use this to their advantage My hearing although extremely acute. can prove fatal for myself as if the sound frequency goes to high, it can cause a very BAD headache and I could be rendered into a state of paralysis. therefore I would not say my character is very extreme in these aspects.

FAO Aquila Saber: Is there any GM for the Magnammund Rescue (or Rescue of Magnammund as I would prefer to call it so it doesnt sound to modern )? and is it too late to join in?? You can join for the second event. Read the sign-in thread for more information and what is required. For someone with Kai training you can select 2 or 4 Magnakai discplines which you know. 2 if you select another special, 4 if you only select Magnakai discplines. Alternatively, you can select Kai training and 2 specials which corresponds to your Melodorian heritage. The contest try to even out the amount of abilities and powers the players have. Please read the sign-in thread (especially the first post) and then post any queries there. You will surely have reached Kai master status and beyond (as per old TotS requirements) long before the competition ends, so you will not have any arguments from me which of the three above options you choose.

It all depends of what you want to do with your character. In the old TotS website (that is now gone because of database corruption), every member had information in their profile regarding their evolution. Every new member was starting at Level 1. Through posting, these characters were gaining levels. Now, we don't have this feature here on the (supposedly) temporary forums, so it's kinda hard to say how the evolution is going. Like I said earlier, it all depends of what you want to do with your character. If it is simply to browse through the forums, then there's no problem. If it is for an online RPG game, that's fine. But if you want to use it in the West Watch (WW as we call it), then it's hard to believe that a 15-year-old Meledorian from the old Kai Order has reached Supreme Masterdom in 5 years and did not died during the attack of the Monastery in MS 5050. Plus, there was no Grand Master (or maybe 1 or 2) in the first Kai Order. From our own calculations, the NO GM that is the hero of the NO series was 18 or 20 when he mastered his first Grand Discipline, and he is supposed to be the best rookie that LW had. Not sure about the "elven" origin of your weapons since there were no elves in Magnamund. Not sure too about your description of the Meledorian race and how a Meledorian could be sent on Magnamund (however, I have an interesting idea for you about this... I'll send it by PM to you if you want to know more). So yes, you are better to lower the skills of your character if you are to enter the WW, and maybe make it older if he is to be a GM. EDIT: Ah, I see that people were faster than me to answer you!

@black Cat no no, the Old Order Character did not reach Supreme Master. he only reached GM at age 15. and did not progress further. this is due to the New Order's skill set being different to the Old Order. The Old Order did not have the Left Hand Magic, nor did they have the Battle Magic of the Elder Magi. The Meledorian Race had a brief mention in one of the LW books but I expanded on it Do let me know your thoughts and suggestions (as per my first post) feel free to let me know your ideas as well Black Cat. Hear from you soon

Hear from you soon The skill set for a Grand Master is exactly the same for OO and NO. They are the Magna-Kai discilplines or the Kai Master skills. They are different for a Kai Supreme Master, but that is another rank and skill set. Only one of the Old order member ever gained any Grand Master disciplines and this is Lone Wolf. I guess the easiest way to express this is that the old order had no knowledge that there were disciplines beyond the Kai master skills, and thus they could never develope them.

@black Cat no no, the Old Order Character did not reach Supreme Master. he only reached GM at age 15. and did not progress further. this is due to the New Order's skill set being different to the Old Order. Well, there were no GM disciplines at all in the first Order. LW created them as he made his way up the ladder while forming the Second Order. So, like I said, if your character is a 15-year-old GM from the First Order, that's impossible since there were no GM at the time of the destruction of the Monastery, and even if there would had been one, he would had been way older than 15 (we got a discussion regarding this here). However, being a 18-20 years old with all the Magnakai Disciplines (therefore, being a GM) is possible in the NO. So I would suggest that you make your character slightly older, or you make him at a high Magnakai level at 15. The Meledorian Race had a brief mention in one of the LW books but I expanded on it Yes, but I'm not sure they were creatures that came from the Plane of Light that lived for a while on Magnamund before living for the Daziarn. That could be a good discussion thought: what are the origins of the Meledorian? Do let me know your thoughts and suggestions (as per my first post) feel free to let me know your ideas as well Black Cat. Hear from you soon I'll send this to you tonight or tomorrow.

The old TotS had a ranking based on post count, hence all entrants started at level 1 and grew into their powers. However, there is much debate that this system of linked post/rank was a good idea. AS actually runs the LWERPG, which is a large set of creative writing chapters similar to the WW here, although in that case it was interlinked stories. There is no right way to enter, especially as this is a separate forum. I think it is good creatively and with respect to interacting with the current storylines to pitch yourself low or temporarily powerless (as you actually did in the story) in order to be able to integrate well. As your story threads and links to the other characters and stories grow, your powers can comfortably grow. At the end of the day, Black Cat and Ghostbear have been superb guardians of the West Watch storyline. If you confer with them in private (to avoid spoiling details of your story) they can usually reassure you about your ideas, and tell you about old story points. Given your initial start, I don't see a problem. As long as your own plot is not Magnamund-shattering (or at least, not too soon without everyone else roughly knowing and consenting) then there should not be an issue there either. Edit: WOAH! So many posts...so, so many posts. I think i might have clicked the previous page first and missed the new stuff. Umm, as your were everyone

Waitaminute. Lone Wolf is barely halfway through the basic Disciplines at 15 and you guys are telling me the New Order is supposed to have had teenaged Grand Masters? Words such as "target audience" and "publisher interference" spring to mind. And those are just the relatively polite ones. I've always considered Grand Master to be the equivalent of an epic class in D&D - it should take many years to get that far, and damn few should actually manage it. Lone Wolf himself is, what, 35 or so at the time of book 13? That seems about right to me.
[/rant]
Yeah, I know I have no real business sounding off about this as I'm not even in the WW, but I couldn't let that one pass without comment.

The new Order Grand Master in Lone Wolf 21-28 is born in MS 5063. At age 20 he has 4 Grand Master disciplines. That said advancement is much quicker in the new order than in the old order. This can be attributed to: - The presence of the Moonstone in the Kai Monastery during the years MS 5081-MS 5083. - The presence of the Lorestones (and the Book of the Magnakai) - Kai gifting Lone Wolf with superior teaching skills when he attained the rank of Grand Master.

Don't forget that the war was also attributed to having a whole group of potentials with much stronger disciplines - though JD could have simply been planting the seeds with this reference
