So, what have you guys seen/read recently? Any good suggestions? My current read/watch list for ongoing works: - Blade of the Immortal (Zipp, Thank You for pointing this Masterpiece to me ); - Vagabond; - Naruto (I gave up on the Anime, just reading the manga now); - One Piece; I recently finished "Death Note" (great first half, not so good after that) and stopped reading "Bleach" (kinda disappointing after the Soul Society Arc). I haven't been watching any anime, besides some old stuff like HXH, NGE or Trigun; but I might try "History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi"(since everyone at this anime forum i visit keeps praising it). @ Mydnight: my friend, this RK obsessor has been very busy, lol. I finished buying the Manga (even managed to get a Brazilian edition of "Yahiko no Sakabato"), and only a couple months ago I managed to get all of these: www.yamatotoysusa.com/page.cfm/200Cool stuff, huh? ;D

My current read/watch list for ongoing works: - Blade of the Immortal (Zipp, Thank You for pointing this Masterpiece to me ); Hey, what a nice surprise! I haven't checked the anime forum in over a year, and the first thing I see when I do is a thank you! I'm glad you're reading Blade of the Immortal. Great manga. Sadly, I'm a few mangas behind now, due to lack of funds, and they go out of print pretty fast. But I have faith I will catch up! The comic is WAY ahead of the manga by now, though. As for other anime/manga, I'm afraid I'm way out of the loop. Especially on Manga. When I decided to cut back on my consumerism tendencies, books were the first thing to go off the list, what with the convienence of libraries. I do occasionally get an anime in from netflix. Most recently I saw the movie Origin. I didn't really like it, though the animation quality is decidedly beautiful. I don't know... my tastes have really changed. What used to seem interesting and dark to me in highschool now feels somewhat tacky and formulaic, as far as anime is concerned. I did recently get to see Paprika, and I thought that was excellent. I also highly reccomend Perfect Blue, by the same director.

Poor guy ;D ... zipp:I think that Dark Horse stopped publishing the "comics" recently, thus meaning that BotI is now only available in "book format" (vol. 19 is coming out this year, I think).

Hrm... My anime list of the last season was:
Bamboo Blade - A simple story about a kendo club with quirky characters. A fun going and easy anime, good for small doses of laughs. Shion no Ou - A thriller/drama anime about a girl who witness her parents killed and became mute. The only connection she had with the murderer was the game of Chinese Chess that they played. Seto no Hanayome - Still not subbed properly and I'm still waiting... A romantic comedy about a boy who was forced to marry a mermaid. Who is also a Yakuza boss's daughter. Hilarity ensures. Highly recommended. Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei - About a teacher who could only see everything in a negative light and his classroom of many other quirky characters like a girl who could only see everything in good light, a Fujoshi and also a tail maniac.
Manga:-
Angel Densetsu - a story about a nice, almost angelic, boy with the face of a demon. While everyone think he's a delinquiant and wants to fight him, he just want a normal life. Recently concluded Bio Meat - What if the world's hunger and waste problem could be solved by creating the perfect dairy animal that would eat ANYTHING and it's only concern is eating? Now what if such animal is set loose? A thriller manga from the revived Snoopycool. Vinland Saga - Vikings. Nuff Said.
That's all that I could think for now...

dharn: Hmmm... Angel Densetsu and Vinland Saga sound interesting... I just also found out that there is going to be a "Blade of the Immortal Anime", starting this Summer; although I have my doubts if it is going to be That good, I'm very curious about it. Recently watched:
Gilgamesh - Gothy psychic stuff. Good, but flawed. 7/10 Gankutsuou - Science fiction adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo. Enjoyable, and with a really striking visual style. Can be a bit slow. 8/10. Black Lagoon, series 1 - A disappointment. Lots of people love it, but it's very standard action stuff. Plot is disjointed, and there's only one character worth mentioning. 5/10.
I've just started watching Wolf's Rain because a friend lent me disc 1. I almost hope it's bad, because I don't want to have to buy the rest of the series, heh. So far, it seems very mediocre.
I've recently acquired Macross Plus and Gundam 0083.

I mean, the story and dialouge are good, and the characters interesting, but what really makes BOTI stand out for me is the amazing sketch artwork that seems to flow at times from one picture into the next. And I don't see that they captured that in that preview.

And I don't see that they captured that in that preview. And the way that the mangaka portays emotion in the character's faces. Or the lack of it, like in Shira's case (btw, this dude is the most despicable manga character ever) Samildanach: Nice to see you here man.

Oh, I'm also still watching various series with my local anime and manga society. Some are good, some are terrible; the worst should really have been the best (Trinity Blood and Bakumatsu) but both are quite slow paced and laden with unnecessary padding, which makes them seem interminable when watched at a rate of one episode per week. Thanks. Came here as soon as I got the Facebook message from...er...whoever sent it (still don't quite remember who's who on there and here).

You're talking about "Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto" (someoned needs to translate this title)? I saw the first episode, and although the genre (historical, "samurai type of thing") is appealing to me, I found it a bit "boring", in a lack of a better word. I admit that I should wait for it to get better, but I really didn't felt like it... Now, if it's another show, please forget this comment

You're talking about "Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto" (someoned needs to translate this title)? Heh, that's the one. I can never remember the full title. It is indeed quite boring. It's a shame, because it could have been a good series. Another problem with it is the historical detail - while it's admirable to strive for accuracy, if you don't have any prior knowledge of Japanese history, it can all get a bit confusing. I really have no idea about translation of the title, except I believe 'bakumatsu' is the term for the last years of shogunate rule in Japan.

What I'm watching right now:
One Piece - I've been meaning to watch this for some time. It's alright, but so far nothing particularly exceptional.
Samurai Champloo - This one's a rewatch. I've only seen Champloo once, and that was over a year ago, so I thought it was due a second viewing.
Bleach - Some may remember that I dropped Bleach after episode 163. Recently a friend told me a few more episodes would see it improve again, so I decided to dive back in. She was right. I'm now up to date with Bleach - i.e. episode 200.

Hm... last season was not so interesting, Toradora, Hyakko, Index, Kemeko and so on. My favourite is Astro Fighter Sunred and Seto no Hanayome OVA.
This season has a new Hajime no Ippo. With Takamura's fight with Bryan Hawk. Must watch. Hopefully I can watch it.
