G'day all! Taken me a while to come back, but I am finally here! I haven't been slack though; in my abscence I have written an introductory RPG as well as now developing it for solo gamebooks, which it is quite suited for. Anyway, I have decided to open a site dedicated to the reviews of gamebooks, and the first is a review of Flight from the Dark collector's edition. gamebookreview.wordpress.com/Everyone is welcome to visit and post comments, and even submit your own reviews if you wish on any gamebook.

Your memory is correct, yes I was also once known as Eternalknight at TotS, but that was a while ago.

Hi crymsonIf I may make a special request for when you're doing LW reviews, could you please add what is different in the new reprint edition (i.e. additional mini-quest, added 50 paragraphs - all death sequences... no wait, this isn't Castle Death ) Keep up the great reviews. Kind regards ~Angst~

Finally got round to having a look at these - good stuff!
I've not got any of the new editions yet, but these reviews give a nice taster. I'd have to agree that the sound of all those technological-type things early on in FftD is a bit odd - previously the technology side of things only really ramped up towards the end of the MAgnakai adventures. And why call the M'lare bowls Shianti M'lare bowls? Is there any reason why LW would know of their origin as he walks through Kalte?
Anyway, cool reviews - let us know when you've had a crack at Book 4!

If he has Sixth Sense and is a Guardian or higher so he gets to read section #341 about the Vagadyn Gate, then yes. This knowledge combined with the knowledge that the Shianti were called Ancients in the north would give Lone Wolf enough information. Otherwise, no.

Ah, I see. That still makes it a bit odd that even if he can't do that, the information is still introduced in the description. Never mind. Wait a second - 'Guardian of higher'? Are Kai ranks used in the Kai books now? Or were they used before and I've totally forgotten? I only remember ranks being introduced in the Magnakai books (and dratted annoying that was too when the first ones you try and play are 12 and then 10! )

Ranks were mentioned in three and used, used heavier in four, and were a part of your action chart in five i think

Yikes - it is a long while since I played the Kai series! I can't remember that at all. *checks Book 5*Quite right - Shadow on the Sand includes a box for your rank on the chart. Pretty sure I've never seen that before - how typically observant of me. I presume I am right, though, that it's only in the Magnakai books that how each discipline actually develops with rank is detailed in the front. Hmm - the ranks system really was kind of a just-because-you've-actually-got-that-discipline-don't-think-I'm-gonna-let-you-get-away-with-not-having-bought-and-completed-the-previous-books from Joe Dever, wasn't it?
