Ok, I really like the bit where he goes berserk on his daddy in ROTJ, lol (I guess he should have done that to the Ewoks, also ) But c'mon, the Bespin fight has Luke "flying" off the carbonite chamber, Vader falling like a fodder Stormtrooper and saying "Aahh!", Lightsaber throwing, hand chopping and "that" revelation- it's an ugly, mean fight

On the basis of the quality of number four, I hope they don't make another one. Just like the Star Wars, Alien and Jaws films, they should've stopped at three and not sullied the series with the inclusion of inferior instalments. I'll be very happy to still think of the ride into the sunset at the end of Crusade as the finale to Indiana Jones. Okay, I was kidding about Jaws. Again, Simey, I say that Revenge of the Sith is a Great SW movie ;D (to me, it really made up for the let-down that is Ep. I and the "somehow it could be WAY better" Ep. II). Plus, it has the 2nd most fantastic lightsaber battle in the entire Saga (#1 is Vader vs Luke, in ESB ;D ) I would only cut that wimpy "Nooooooo" at the end... I will see Indy's new movie this weekend, hoping it won't be that big of a bomb. Revenge of the Sith equals the suck, but what can I say that Maddox already hasn't? www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=episode3

Gotta say I'm with Izziel on the best lightsabre fight - the best bit to me doesn't have lightsabres at all, but simply Vader completely overwhelming Luke with the Force and blowing him out the window with loads of random objects (accompanied by amazing music!).
I didn't think much of the RotS fight, because, though visually spectacular, it seemed to me - like most of the film - like an emotional vacuum.
The RotJ fight is only slightly second to the TSB one, and Luke getting mad and then Vader turning against the Emperor is classic stuff!
I quite like the Phantom Menace figh; it doesn't try to feel very important - like most of the film, it's fun because it's not attempting to be ambitious and failing like parts 2 & 3 were for me - it just looks cool and is fairly entertaining.
Ben Kenobi VS. Vader is pretty unspectacular, but it's still rather good simply via the lines that they throw each other, and you can hardly argue with Alec Guiness VS. James Earl Jones, can you?
Hmm....sidetracked this thread we have....

Well, for the sheer number of lightsabre fights, Revenge of the Sith is the runaway winner:
1) Obi-Wan and Anakin vs Count Dooku 2) Obi-Wan and Anakin vs General Grievous and droids 3) Obi-Wan vs General Grievous 4) Mace Windu and 3 Jedi Masters against Palpatine 5) Yoda vs Palpatine 6) Obi-Wan vs Anakin

That "review" is hilarious, althoug i disagree a lot with it's content: it's true that there are certain "plot-holes" in the movie (like the ones mentioned), but these are much better "explained" in the Expanded Universe material, such as the "Clone Wars" series, or the novelization of the movie itself (nominally, Ani's descent into the Dark Side or what this does to one's self). My point is, the movie has some "rushed" scenes (in the lack of a better word), but when you think that so much more has happened between AotC and RotS that it's not shown, it doesn't feel so "flawed", IMO. I hope I'm making sense here. I really liked the movie; it shows us a lot of crucial moments in SW history, such as Palpatine's rise to Emperor, the duel with Mace and his transformation, Order 66 and the Jedi Massacre, Vader's first appearance, and of course, ALL of the Lightsaber duels that WH pointed. Simey: I also enjoyed the Maul vs Qui-Gon / Obi Wan fight a lot: by far, the highest point in TPM and what stopped me from asking for my money back ;D (eventually the film has grown on me and when seen with the other 2, I agree that it makes a nice set up- but when I first saw it in back in 99, I was really disappointed). But I don't find the RotS battle, an "emotional vacuum" honestly; when Anakin goes "I hate you!", his head on the dirt, his legs somewhere else, deep hatred in his yellow eyes, with the flames all around... no? ;D I just love the ANH Obi-Wan vs Vader duel: not acrobatics or flashy stances, but it's perhaps the most realistic fight in SW, if this is humanly possible; I mean, both Alec Guiness and David Prowse act like those things could really cut you at minimum contact... Oh, and since this is a new movie thread, here's the trailer for the new Clone Wars animated movie, coming in August: wwws.warnerbros.co.uk/clonewars/Whadja think?

Hm... Just watched Incredible Hulk. Leaps and bounds better than the last movie. Actions scenes all around and the fights are awesome. Lot and lots of cameos and tributes to the old Hulk media appearances that made the geek in me jump for joy.

Cool. I'm going to see Iron Man while I still have the chance, then I look forward to the big green angry fella. Hmm... there are far too many superhero films these days.

But none of those special moments like Palpatine's transformation or Order 66 are done well.
That for me right there is a clear sign of how Lucas tends to overdue things. He has to have his character literally on fire with his limbs chopped off before he can get him to say "I hate you."
For me they were terribly uninteresting movies. And so far the only people I know who defend them are already huge star wars fans. The fact that you've read the novels and seen all the other media attests to that.
I myself am not a huge star wars nut and yet I did see the Clone Wars animated show. I thought it had its moments, but it falls far short of making the rest of the new series good.

Hmm... there are far too many superhero films these days. There's still Hellboy and Batman coming this summer... plus Hancock, the superhero/comedy movie with Will Smith and Wanted, based on a graphic novel. *Sigh* So many movies, so little time...

There's still Hellboy and Batman coming this summer... plus Hancock, the superhero/comedy movie with Will Smith and Wanted, based on a graphic novel. *Sigh* So many movies, so little time... The first Hellboy is one of the very few films I've given up on halfway through. It's absolutely awful. Having said that, one of the other few was Anchorman, which is widely considered a classic, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt (I can't stand Will Ferrell). Batman I am very excited about though... -GB PS: Completely off topic, but Maddox is an idiot. I've not read that review, but I've read some of his other stuff.

Having said that, one of the other few was Anchorman, which is widely considered a classic Is it? Yikes. To be fair, I found the last half hour pretty funny, but by no means worth sitting through over an hour' worth of comedy vacuum beforehand. And yeah, Will Ferrell - why is he so popular? I don't get that at all.

Hancock opened here yesterday. Haven't watched it yet, but from the trailers on TV, should be a nice watch. Anyone?

Went to see The Love Guru with Mike Myers. Well, it's fun, if you like Myers. I know, the movie is about hockey and some of you don't exactly know the rules, but it doesn't matter. It's fun (but not as fun as the first Austin Powers). Justin Timberlake playing a French Canadian goaltender with the accent worths the entry price (well, for a French Canadian like me).
