Only one? I dunno. But Spiderman 1 and, most particularly, 2 hit a high for me which few other superhero films of any sort - let alone the Marvel ones - have reached. Will, however, admit to only having seen the two Hulk films (1 - really liked it; 2 - really bored by it) and the first two X-Men films (1 - passable; 2 - rather good) and none of the others. Would like to see Iron Man 1 & 2. Is there something you don't like about the Spiderman films or do you just prefer the others? Hmm, I rather fancy a list. I'd say my five four favourite comic book superhero type films (in no particular order) are: Batman; Batman Returns; Spiderman 2; The Matrix

I'm not a fan of Tobey Maguire or Kirsten Dunst, which is probably a factor. I didn't like the Ang Lee Hulk movie at all, but did enjoy the second one. The Iron Man flicks are my faves out of the crop that's come up in the last few years, and Thor could well find a spot at the high end of my "likes" list as well.

I'm not a fan of Tobey Maguire or Kirsten Dunst, which is probably a factor. That is - most definitely - not gonna help. You might do better with the back-to-school take on its way then. Andrew Garfield was very good in The Social Network, and the main photo that's been released is nice and moody. Fingers crossed it's decent. Think I'm in a very tiny minority on Ang Lee's Hulk - always really enjoy it. But what little I know of the original character, I don't really think much of, so maybe it's a good Hulk film for people who don't like the Hulk.

I quite like Ang Lee's Hulk, but that's mainly down to Eric Bana. I like him as an actor and I think he does a good job of portraying a man who is mild-mannered not because he has endless patience but because he is detached from his own emotions. My favourite scene in the film is the one with Banner being smacked around in his living room by that smug man who wants Betty Ross for himself. I find the depiction of Banner trying to fight down uncontrollable fury unusually convincing. On-screen anger is usually all fireworks; this scene seems more like a real person, at least to me.
Having said that, I think the other Hulk (the one with Edward Norton) is better in almost all ways. I found the Hulk itself much more acceptable in that film. It seemed less like a cartoony super-strong child (Ang Lee's Hulk) and more like something that's actually dangerous.

Plus the fact that while Eric Bana is a good actor and I like his movies, I have NEVER seen Edward Norton perform merely par in a movie.

Hey, I reckon a good few of us must have seen Harry Potter 7b by now - what do we think?
Think I'd rate it 3rd or 4th after 3, 7a and possibly 6.

Certainly I won't fault them for splitting the film in two, and certainly I didn't feel the time drag when I watched them back to back on opening night. Some charcetrs seemed to get a minimal mention in those last two films, but others got nice moments to play. I thought the very, very end fight lastest a little too long (I have it in my head that in the book everything withthe snake resolved much faster) but otherwise well done.

I agree with Wuufy about the pace of 7a/b. I also think that the films did a good job of keeping those who haven't read the books guessing about Snape's motivation, whose final scenes came as a shock to C as Snape was her favourite character and she cried from then on.
As for the series itself, my biggest bugbear is that Harry's personality is completely different from the books, where he is much more heroic and not so much the bumbling idiot.

Yeah, I found the epic battle quite dull - trying to be LotR-y, but not really involving the three leads in it, so I got a bit bored. But mostly 7b was very good. Agree that the stuff involving Snape comprised some of the best bits. I thought 7a was better though. I loved the unhurried pace that really let the sense of hopelessness sink deep into your bones. It really focused on the characters above all else and that was great. It was the bits where 7b sometimes didn't do that that I lost a bit of interest. It's been a patchy movie series - I'd say 50/50 in terms of really decent films - but did I have a little half-tear in my eye at the end? Have to confess I did.

Hi guys! I'm going to see Sherlock Holmes this week end, hope it'll be good as the first movie and still more. By the way, some people said I should watch the TV series Sherlock, it's worth by your opinion? And speaking of TV series I'm currently watching Dr. Who, 5Th season just started and I'm recovering the previous ones on the Internet. I'm asking myself why I didn't find this wonderful series sooner! Does anyone of you see it regularly?

Living in North America, I have sometimes to wait for a movie that is first release in Europe to hit the American market. But now, I can consider myself very lucky: the Tintin movie has been released in my province two full weeks before the rest of the continent. I'm planning to go watch it this weekend.
As for TV series, my girlfriend and I are currently doing a marathon of Desperate Housewives. No, we are not raising money for something, it's just that at my video club, I can rent three DVDs at the time as many times as I want for less than 12$ a month. Since the end of october, we breezed through the first 5 seasons and are currently at the beginning of the sixth. I very love this series, it's full of humour and touching moments. They should have given another name to the series since the current one is misleading people to believe that it is a superficial, women only show...

Oh, the new Sherlock is out soon? Cool! Yes, the TV shoiw - well, really only three 1 1/2 episodes - is very worth your time. And the new set of three starts in January aswell, and the first was priviewed and seems to have got good buzz. So yes, watch the Sherlock show! What the film did for the mythology (make it feel modern while stickign to the roots) the show does in reverse (being modern but feeling like the mythology). They both do the same thing well going in different paths! And yah, another Doctor Who fan The 11th hour was a great opener for a new doctor!

Yep, the Sherlock Holmes sequel was reviewed on Film '11 with that critical heavyweight Claudia Winkleman last night. The verdict? Same as before, but more of it - particularly the homoeroticism between Holmes and Watson. "It went from subtext to text" is how they put it. There are also more fetishistic close-ups of guns firing than you'd reasonably expect in a two-hour film. Whether this is some sexual metaphor, you'd have to ask Mr. Ritchie. As for TV shows, I'm afraid that these days my telly is purely a provider of background noise and the display for my 360. I don't think I've changed channel from BBC1 in ages. If I want to actually watch something, I use some manner of video on demand service. I recently watched the first series of the V remake that way. Also, Deadliest Warrior is a guilty pleasure. It outstrips even Top Gear in the alpha male pseudo-science stakes.

I'm amazed that a Spielberg film would be released in Europe first - it's been and gone over here. I wish it was being released about now 'cause I missed it! Not seen the first Sherlock Holmes film yet, but very much want to - a good Guy Ritchie film post Lock Stock needs to be seen to be believed! Only seen the third episode of Sherlock the TV series, which even without having seen the first two was excellent, except for some horrible over-acting by the bad guy. But yes, well, well worth a look. And Shadow Crow - have you never come across Doctor Who at all before? Or is it just the new series that you've not seen yet?

As for the Doctors, Christopher Eccleston seemed at first sight out of place (with a look more like a "though guy from action movie) but played a really good doctor in my opinion. David Tennant made a really great job and it's my favorite. It's great in every single aspect of the show and a great fan himself. As for Matt Smith it still can't catch me and even I don't really know why (they aired only the first four episodes of the fifth season so It's not a definitive opinion. And Shadow Crow - have you never come across Doctor Who at all before? Or is it just the new series that you've not seen yet? Just heard the name sometimes but didn't know nothing about it 'till the last month. The streaming site where I look it has all the new seasons (season six in English With Italian subtitles), the Children in Need specials and the very first season but not the other. As side notes, I've watched yesterday the interactive episode on the BBC site, it's very very well done! Wish there was a Lone Wolf TV series with episodes like that (but we can still dream, no?) And Doctor Who is actually one of the few TV series/Anime/Cartoon worth watching in Italian, they've done a great job at translation (even if you miss the "but Doctor Who?" sketch and some puns.
