No deaths is good, fighting to a knockout is preferable. Maybe theres a magic presence on the battle field that actualy prevents death or something like that....

Realism preferred for me too. Although creating great spectacular moves can be funny I still prefer to cling in some measure to a realistic fight.

I really don't know if I'm going to be able to take part to this event, but I already gave my word... Oh well, if I can't make it, my opponent will win be default...

Q for you Zipp, what 'level' are we assumed to be at when it comes to abilites, special powers, etc? Are we assumed to have full access to our classes abilities as if we were for example, a lvl40 character.

Well, you knew I couldn't ignore a tournament question... even while not at home.
First of all, the tournament will be more realistically based. HOWEVER! There will be some exceptions that will be mentioned when the tournament opens...
Along with this, I would say choose a level that you feel your character is at. It doesn't have to correlate to post count or your old TOTS level. Just assign EvilTB abilities that you think he has. I'm allowing a lot of freedom there.

Added rules:
Ruling: as per the request of the participants, this tournament will be treated somewhat more realistically than the others. I do not want to limit the creativity of the writers. Just write as fits your character. Remember that realisism is a comparitive value. This is a fantasy setting, after all, and we are playing characters that have super human abilities. At the same time, try to respect that setting and the limitations of your character.
One rule that cannot be broken is that your posts cannot describe fatal blows or the loss of limbs (unless they are your own). Blades and abilities can connect, blood can be shed, and fighters may come out of this tournament scarred for life. Depending on your character, you may even try to slip in a fatal blow into one of your posts, but if Morgan catches you, the consequences will be dire.
Gems: As explained, each of you has five gems. You can use them whenever you wish during the tournament, but never two in one post. Also, once used, a gem is lost for the rest of the tournament.
As stated, the gems allow you to go beyond the normal bounds of realism that have been set for this tournament FOR A SINGLE POST. In game terms, what this means is that, when used, you are allowed to increase the sentence maximum of that post from five to seven. You also get to increase your style word maximum by two for that post (so if you have the speed style and use a stone, you get to write 7 sentences and a maximum of 8 style words). After the post, these values return to normal.
Each stone is activated by a special phrase that has to be in your post. The attack you make in that post must be centered around the power of the gem you activated. The special power lasts for a single post. These things are given below:
Blue- Unleashes magical potential inherent in all the denizens of Magnamund. Magic users activating the stone will find themselves able to briefly cast magics of unheard of power, while those with psychic abilities will find they can dominate the minds of others. A mind blast using the stone’s power could very well prove fatal to all but the most hardened warriors. Even someone without any magical aptitude will find themselves suddenly able to cast spells as if they were a Grandmaster. Activating phrase: “You rip the blue stone off the bracelet and crush it in your hand, feeling it’s energies flow into you.”
Red gem- Removes physical limitations. Fighters activating the red gem will find themselves able to jump fifty feet in the air, move blindingly fast, punch holes through steel, lift a thousand pounds... classic superhuman stuff. But no x-ray vision. Activating phrase: “You grip the red stone tightly and speak the power word, your hand feeling like it’s fire.”
Green gem- Imbues their weapon with the power of the gods. The weapon changes based on the fighter. Some will their quarterstaff suddenly able to strike with the power of thunder and lightning. Others will find their sword leaves their hand, suddenly sentient, and tears into the enemy. Even those who use their hands to fight will experience effects, such as the growing of claws or multiple arms, or even the ability to burn an opponent with a single touch. There’s no telling what will happen. Activating phrase: “You rip the green stone off the bracelet and hold it to your weapon until it dissolves.”
Yellow gem- Allows the user to briefly alter their appearance, metamorphing into another more powerful form, which they can use to devastate opponents. One might turn into something monstrous, something to rival the Darklords. Or they may become a scion that radiates pure power. Activating phrase: “Holding the yellow stone up to your head, you close your eyes and concentrate until you feel your body begin to ripple and shift.”
Purple gem- Calls down the wrath of the heavens to strike your opponent. The essence of the gods themselves are tied to the purple stones. Using them calls for a direct interference of the gods in the tournament. Needless to say, the results are impressive. Activating phrase: “you hold the purple stone above your head and call out the power word loudly, feeling immense power emanating from the stone.”
Note that the activation phrases do not have to be posted word for word. You could be replaced by “I” or “Beowuuf,” for instance. It’s the action that’s important. Furthermore, they do not count towards the sentence limitations.
Interuptions: Just so you know, I may occasionally step in and make a post of my own in the middle of a fight. This is completely arbitrary. No one will recieve points from this post, but it may alter the situation of fighters. For instance, someone’s weapon may break, or the arena itself may shift and change.
Golden Rule: Just a quick reminder here. As far as the style words and phrases are concerned, you do not have to use the given tense of words. For instance, if the speed style has the word “jab” in it, it is okay to write the word as “jabbed” or “jabbing.”

For those of you who are somewhat confused as to what you're doing, I'm posting the following first three posts of an example fight. If anyone wants any other example situations, let me know.
The fighters are Xaviee (using speed style) and Valestar (using power style). Assume that the word lists are the same ones I've posted for this round. For your benefit, I've highlighted the words from the lists when they are used in the posts.
Xaviee logs on before Valestar and makes the first post. Remember that posts have to be between three to five sentences long. Because he is using the speed style, Xaviee also has to use a minimum of three words and a maximum of six from his list:
"Xaviee wasted no time in sizing up his opponent. The old man at the other end of the circle him was frail: there was no way he'd be able to keep up with Xaviee's speed. Flicking his wrists, two daggers tipped into his hands. He gripped their handles and ran towards Valestar, jumping into the air at the last moment and coming down for a deadly strike. His lips twitched in anticipation of the strike."
Notice that strike is used twice in this post. The second time he used it, Xaviee didn't recieve any points, positive or negative, for it, nor did it count towards his minimum or maximum. Words only count for these things once per post.
Valestar's response is next. He's using power style, which means a minimum of one word and a maximum of two from the list:
"Valestar isn't taking any chances with the speedy fighter. Raising his arms, he utters a word of power and the fighter freezes mid air. Summoning more of his magical reserves, Valestar sends a bolt of lightning at Xaviee. It hits the man square in the chest and he is thrown back by nearly a hundred yards."
Xaviee's response to this has him using one of the gems. Remember that this increases the sentence maximum of this one post from five to seven. You also get to increase your style word maximum by two for that post (so Xaviee gets to write a maximum of 7 sentences and use a maximum of 8 style words). Also remember the embedded phrase to activate the gem doesn't count towards this total:
"Xaviee flipped in mid air and landed on his feet. He was surprised by the attack and the power behind it, but he wasn't about to be tripped up by a lowly mage. Ripping the green stone off the bracelet Morgan had given him, he stabbed it with one of his daggers. Instantly the dagger froze. Flicking his wrist, he sent it spinning towards the head of the mage. Passing through the mage's instintive shield, the dagger pierced his shoulder and the mage took one step back and froze, encassed in ice. Xaviee ran for the statue, ready to deliver one final punch."
Remember that next post, Xaviee's maximums will return to normal, as will his dagger. Also notice that he described the results of his attack. This is fine, as long as Valestar isn't killed or loses any limbs. Valestar's next post will most likely describe how he breaks free of his prison before Xaviee reaches him and retaliates with an attack of his own. You don't have to describe the affects of your attack on an opponent, but you are allowed to.
EDIT: You are not, however, allowed to make an attack FOR your opponent. So Xaviee couldn't have Valestar release a fireball at him in his post. This prevents people from abusing the Trickster style.

Just noting that I'm double posting here. I don't want people to miss the above post, which provides examples of combat that will be helpful for anyone who is a little confused.
For those of you who understand the rules fairly well, I thought I'd offer some further explanation of the Trickster style.
The words of the trickster style have different points based on which style your opponent is using. There is some slight reasoning to which words are most effective against a style, but mostly you'll have to rely on luck and clever strategy to try and maximize your points. The words have fairly high values, because you are only allowed to use one per post.
The phrases are worth more points the more you use them. However, because they are so specific, they are harder to get off. But get a bunch off, and you'll be ahead in no time.
Keep in mind you can't make attacks FOR your opponent, so you can't set yourself up for these phrases by simply forcing your opponent to make the appropriate attack.

Don't miss the above two posts, but also don't forget to send me or post in the sign up thread which style you've choosen! Fights can't begin until I know that!

I have to say, Beowuuf, a clever (if somewhat munchkin-esque) way of pulling off those phrases. I'll have to start adding "opponent's blade" to those statements.
In any case, yes, you'll get the points for those, but be careful (and this goes for other tricksters, too)... too many self inflicted wounds and you may find yourself with an early accidental knock out!

I can't help it. I keep laughing when I read your post, Beowuuf. Very clever way to beat the system there. You were made to be a trickster.

It is the trickster's style after all! If your character is playing it straight (and stupidly) then I guess the trickster has to be me Nah, I knew it was a one shot deal, I'll play it straight in future. I'm more worried about my sentences - I naturally make them too long. Need to be lean and mean to beat Sarra! Something I never appreciated until using the style though - if everyone knows your playing style and the phrases doesn't that penalise the trickster a little? Should the phrases be held secret and pm'd to contestants when they announce their style for the round?

I'm going to take down the phrases, now, in fact.
