Ok so Im replaying the books from scratch, trying to find some WW inspiration. Ive just started Chasm of Doom and something occured to me. This has probably been addressed before so the answer is probably staring me in the face.
Is it legal to equip the Padded Leather Waistcoat AND the Chainmail Shirt??
In real terms, you probably could wear both. Chainmail on first, then the Leather. I cant see any errata that says you cant and the equipment lists dont say you cant.
Thoughts?

Yes it is. I'm reasonably sure that it's in one of the newsletters. It's also legal to equip the Kagonite Chainmail over the top. Should that have been marked as a spoiler?

I've always treated them as not compatible. I don't know if that's because I read it in the small print of the rules, or if I just assumed a 'one body part, one item' situation. I don't have the books with me, so I can't check.

Hmmm, interesting.
As Samildanach, I never combined these two things (being probably influenced by Dungeon Master and other games like that, where you could only wear one piece of clothing per one body part, lol).
I've searched my Czech edition for any clue, but there is definitely none, and I have briefly looked at AON Project web and I didn't find anything too, but it was really very brief and I might have overlooked it.
From a practical viewpoint, I think it is possible to wear these two things at one time, but it wouldn't be very comfortable and practical, I'm afraid.

That's fine if you use PA, but I don't. There's no reason I'd see that.
I think in my head wearing both of those garments is like wearing two overcoats. My mental logic just never even considered it.

Odd, I always considered the kagonite the exception to the rule! Forgot about that clarification

As the newsletter referenced in that handbook entry says, it was quite common for padded leather to be worn under metal armour for increased protection and comfort. In D20 the description of a suit of full plate also mentions that it incorporates padded under-armour. Interestingly, you are allowed to wear the Kagonite Chainmail with leather AND normal Chainmail, while the Bronin Vest can only be worn with the Padded Leather Waistcoat. I forget which is banned in the GM series.
EDIT: Only the Kagonite Chainmail is permitted in the GM books.

Is it legal to equip the Padded Leather Waistcoat AND the Chainmail Shirt?? Yes. Yes it is. You can also use them with the silver helmet and a shield as well (technicaly you might still be allwoed to use a second weapon and ashield but whenever I was using the shield I limmited myself to one weapon and it wouldn't be something two handed like a staff either). Woah hold up there! You always put the padding under the metal. Wear mail without padding underneath and you'll suffer.

...whenever I was using the shield I limmited myself to one weapon and it wouldn't be something two handed like a staff either) The description says the shield is carried in the hand, so it's logical that you could use that OR a two-handed weapon. I never allowed it to stop me carrying two weapons though, since it seems silly for LW to carry his weapons in his hands at all times.

Indeed, I never believed that LW carried his weapons around out and in his hands all the time. The text itself mentions "you draw your weapon" or "you sheath your weapon" several times before and after combat throughout each book. A spear or quaterstaff, which I imagined would be used as a walking stick, would be held in the hand cause you cant (practically) put those in a scabbard. Broadswords were carried Conan-style, behind the back. Natch
