Slavemaster's idea is a good one and I support it (heck, I might want to play in his game, if there's room!).
Now his take on that period of time may be somewhat different than mine and, rather than try and "resolve" any such creative differences I think I would rather see two complete explorations of that period of time not connected with one another and see where they mesh and where they diverge. Crossovers and cameos could still occur without the two games being in any other way cohesive with each other.
The list of players in post one of this thread is entirely preliminary right now. I will post a character creation topic (as soon as I finish typing it up), which will be where players will need to formally commit and start the character creation process.

Well, while I would like to play an adventurer-archaeologist in Maerin's game, I'd like to see what Slavey is going to come up with

Oh for Ishir's sake, slavey should start another one. The notion of a cross-over is definitely interesting. Well, in any case, just so you guys know, if there's an empty spot, I'm in.

Well well, I suppose it's settled then. Two games, set in the same time period, but with the question of possible connections and cross-overs left open for the time being - As Maerin pointed out, he and I are likely to have slightly different ideas about the details of the world. So, Maerin will take the heroes and forces of Light who will "bring hope to a hopeless world", and I'll take the opportunists, rascals and dregs of society eager to make a few gold crowns out of the chaos, eh? Guess I have some writing and preparation to do, even if I have a rough idea of a campaign. What did you guys have planned about the practical details? Are we going to do this on this site or on rpol.net?

Oooh slavey, if your doing an evil campaign, I'll xfer over to your game. As long as you allow a NAK, that is....

Well, RPOL does have an excellent system for handling characters and adventures, with the slight disadvantage that the DM has to start all the threads. If you don't want to be spammed with endless emails each day, RPOL is also good for avoiding that.

My intent is to run my game here, with a similar structure and approach to what I used in "A Twist In Time". Typically, I have found one only needs two, perhaps three, topic threads (I had more in "A Twist In Time", but it seemed like people generally only used three whether I wanted them to or not ).

Oooh slavey, if your doing an evil campaign, I'll xfer over to your game. As long as you allow a NAK, that is.... Weeell... I admit I was in two minds about the evil thing. I was thinking more of the opportunistic treasure-and-power seeking types, such as rogues, mercenaries and other people not too concerned about the ethics of the war. Outright evil classes would likely be part of the Darklord's campaign and war effort, and thus be somewhat limited when it comes to what they can do and where they can travel. However... if there is a genuine interest among enough of you to play the really bad guys, I have nothing against going with that If anything, it would at least make "railroading" easier, since I can let the NPC:s that outrank you order you to go and do pretty much anything, and give you a really hard time if you refuse ;D Better put it to the vote, I think. Evil campaigns can be interesting, but tricky and requires quite a bit of re-thinking, inversing and tweaking of the narrative tropes and plot elements that makes a story a good story. Is the NAK class formalised, by the way? I know there was work on it on the old site, but was it ever made into an actual LWRPG class? Couldn't find it among the links in the Forge... Allright, then I'll stick to this forum too. Maybe it's best to keep this close to home, so to speak, and we need more activity here.

Oh! Heh. I'd forgotten about that issue, which also includes my D&D adaptation of the Sages of Lyris. Good old Silent Storm, eh?

A dual game is a great idea, though I'll only participate in one, and I'm happy to be signed on to Maerin's.
My character would have a wonderful time interacting between good and "less good" groups, since he's a trickster type character.

Celestia and dusk actually never joined the main tots site, they were players in maerin's 'twist in the tale' game - so you wouldn't actually know them I guess
